2 Through Career & College Promise (CCP), qualified highschool-age students in North Carolina have the opportunity to pursue these options, tuition free, while they are in high school, allowing them to get a jumpstart on their workplace and college preparation. Surry County School students receive free textbooks! (Contact your college liaison at your high school) Courses are offered fall, spring, and summer!

3 Types of CCP programs/pathways: College Transfer College transfer pathways provide tuition-free course credits toward the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science that will transfer seamlessly to any public or participating private college or university. Career & Technical Education Earn tuition-free course credits at Surry Community College toward a job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career.

4 ASSOCIATE IN ARTS Pathway This CCP College Transfer Pathway provides up to credit hours leading to the Associate in Arts and is designed for high school juniors and seniors who wish to begin study toward the Associate in Arts degree and a baccalaureate degree in a non- STEM major. (3) Communication/Humanities/Fine Arts (9 credit hours) Select three courses from the following from at least two different disciplines. 6 Eligibility Criteria for College Transfer Pathways: Junior or senior in high school; AND Weighted GPA of 3.0; AND Must demonstrate college readiness on an approved college benchmark assessment*

7 A high school junior or senior who does not demonstrate college-readiness on an approved assessment or placement test may be provisionally enrolled in a College Transfer Pathway. To qualify for Provisional Status, a student must meet the following criteria: Have a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.5; AND Have completed two years of high school English with a grade of C or higher; AND Have completed high school Algebra II (or a higher level math class) with a grade of C or higher; AND Obtain the written approval of the high school principal or his/her designee; AND Obtain the written approval of the community college president or his/her designee. A Provisional Status student may register only for college mathematics (MAT) and college English (ENG) courses within the chosen Pathway. To be eligible to register for other courses in the Pathway, the student must first successfully complete mathematics and English courses with a grade of C or higher.

11 Eligibility Criteria for Career & Technical Education Pathways Junior or Senior in high school; AND Weighted GPA 3.0 OR recommendation of HS principal or designee; AND Have received career pathway information outlining program requirements for completion of the certificate or diploma.

12 Student must: 1. Continue to make progress toward HS graduation; AND 2. Maintain a 2.0 GPA in college coursework after completing two courses.
