11 The master schedule is developed by the number of course selections identified by students during this registration process. School administrators make decisions regarding the number of sections per department based on students course selections.

12 Schedule changes will ONLY be made for the following reasons: Completion of a summer school course Incomplete schedule (missing a class) Failure of prerequisite course Master schedule conflict Requests for specific teachers will NOT be honored!

13 First semester teachers submitted recommendations: On-Grade Level, Honors, Advanced Placement You MUST sign up for the course level you were recommended for by your teacher. An appeal form can be completed and turned in to request a level change.

14 Complete all information, including current grades. Read Carefully! Once the semester has begun, it will not be possible to switch out of desired course! Student and Parent Signatures are required!

15 You will now select your courses online through MyMCPS Scheduler. You will meet with your counselor through your English classes February 16 th to 26 th to review these selections. Please make sure to submit your Registration Card to the Counseling Department by February 12 th.

16 Click on the link for MyMCPS Scheduler: Note: Must use Google Chrome. If hyperlink opens in Internet Explorer, copy and paste link to Google Chrome.

17 1. Enter your username (your 6-digit ID number) and computer password. Click Sign In. 2. Click on Class Registration which is on the left hand side.

18 3. Starting with English, click on the pencil and select your course (both A and B). You will see a screen with subject categories (i.e. English, Math, Science, etc.). Here you will select your courses for next year.

19 A list of courses in each subject category will appear in alphabetical order. Scroll through the list to find the courses you want to request. IMPORTANT: Your recommended courses are in BOLD, you must select these courses until an appeal form is completed.

20 4. When finished, click Okay 5. Go through until you have selected all of your courses (7 credits or 14 units). Follow this step to request courses in different subjects areas until you have selected 7 courses for both first and second semester.

21 Review your course selections to make sure they are correct. At the bottom of the screen check to see that you have requested 7 credit hours (14 units). Once selections have been reviewed, click Submit.

22 Once you click submit, a list of your requested courses will appear on your screen. Confirm that this list exactly matches the courses on your paper registration card. You have now successfully requested courses for next year and may sign out of mymcps Scheduler.

23 Counselors are available to assist with online course registration during LUNCH in room A103 between February 3 rd to February 12 th.

24 Turn in your Registration Card to the Blake Counseling Department by February 12 th, (Student and Parent Signatures required!) You will have a follow up meeting with your counselor through your English classes between February 16 th to 26 th. Any questions, see your counselor!

(most college apps online by Aug 1)

45 By the end of this presentation you will understand: - more about the ACES Program; - the role of the Academic Coach; - the expectations of ACES students; and - how students may apply to ACES.

46 The ACES Program will: Increase access to higher education for Blake High School students who have both the desire and the capacity to achieve a baccalaureate degree, and whose likelihood of academic excellence and success would be significantly enhanced by receiving the targeted support and guidance provided by the ACES Program.

47 ACES is designed to create a seamless educational pathway and support structure from high school to college completion. All students will receive the first level of support, but students who choose to attend Montgomery College (MC) and the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) will receive 3 levels of support. Level 1: Preparing for Success in College Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Level 2: Supporting Success at Montgomery College (MC) Level 3: Fostering Success Beyond MC Universities at Shady Grove (USG)

48 Support students to ensure they earn a Bachelor s degree, as well as: assist with Career Planning and Preparation; decrease the number of remedial courses in college; help students with the college application and scholarship processes; and provide students with the skills to become independent and successful college students.

Bring signed Program Consent Form to ACES Coach Mr. Jennings, in the Counseling Suite. Application Deadline: Friday, December 23, 2016***

57 Applicants will be informed of their application status after the application deadline. Students (and their parents) selected for the Program will be provided with additional detailed information regarding next steps and upcoming activities. Sophomores selected to participate in ACES are required to participate in the ACES 2017 Summer Program, which runs 7-10 days at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG). (The Program usually falls one week after the school year ends. Juniors selected to participate in ACES are required to participate in a 2-4 day Summer Program at USG.
