4 Instructional Delivery Classes are held at Westerville Central High School with a teacher in each classroom from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A student learns, in large part, through the online delivery of content and instruction using the program Apex Learning (Schoology for Health Course). Each student has control of his/her pace of learning; students can work at their own pace both during the school day, as well as outside of the school day. Teachers do not stand in front of class and teach as in a traditional classroom. Teachers are in the classroom to help and give assistance to students with their individual questions as they are working on the online program. Attendance Note that for all courses, attendance will be expected every day pre-arranged absences will be considered by the teacher on a case-by-case basis. Attendance is required in order to provide direct instruction and further support the student in course completion. We have found a direct correlation between regular attendance and successful course completion. Course Selection Students are permitted to register for up to 1 credit during Summer School. *Credit Recovery Available for Westerville City School students only. Students must have already received a final grade for the course and recorded on their PowerSchool historical grades. This will be verified. Students that have never taken the course will take the course for Credit Advancement. **Ohio s State Tests (OST) Students in these identified courses are required to take end-of-course assessments as one pathway in order to graduate. The Ohio Department of Education establishes the test administration schedule. Students taking these identified courses are encouraged to take the corresponding State end-of-course exam on July 18, 7:45 am in the media center at Westerville Central HS as opposed to waiting to take the assessment during the next test administration window in fall/winter Students that have previously taken an end-of-course exam and scored a 1 or 2 may re-take the assessment on either July 17 or 18 beginning at 7:45 am in the WCHS media center.
