2 14-19 the future. It is estimated that today s learners will have between 10 & 14 jobs by the age of 38! 1 out of 4 workers is working for a company they have been employed by for less than 1 year! The top ten in demand jobs in 2011 did not exist in 2004!
3 14-19 the future.. We are currently preparing students for jobs that don t yet exist using technologies that haven t been invented to solve problems that we don t even know are problems yet! So we need to help our young people get on to the right pathway and courses for them

27 Advice: Science Double Science is the national norm, it will provide a good foundation for A level Separate Science if: Definitely want to specialise in Science Willing to do the extra work and have excellent or good effort grades Have a high Science TA 6a+ and so recommended by high school Possible to do standard track and so use one option subject to give more time this year Single Science is only for Level 1 (D to G) students and has no progression route at 16
28 Advice: Design Technology BC and LHS students have started their Product Design D&T GCSE work Potential to finish Product Design by end of Year 10 They can then improve grade, do a specialist material based course or project (both ½ GCSE equivalent) Non LC / BC students complete GCSE in Year 10 For all students 2 nd choice is needed because timetable constraints
29 Advice: Modern Foreign Language courses Normally KS3 language gives best chance of a C grade Doing 2 languages is a good idea if possible New languages: Italian, Spanish, Japanese for students who want to do a language and unlikely to get a C grade
