4 About INtel College INtel College has been established since Our partnership with our key partner, the University of Sunderland, UK goes back to 2000 demonstrating maturity and proven results in delivery of education at international standards. Our college campus, based in Westlands, at the end of General Mathenge Road, is a custom-built campus. The continuous developments of the college learning facilities are stimulated by new technologies and a clear understanding of the 21st century learning experience. The campus offers facilities that incorporate modern technologies, that include fast internet services, and interactive technologies for teaching. INtel offers a vibrant campus atmosphere, located in a beautiful quiet and serene environment that is safe and conducive to learning. The quality of teaching at INtel is informed by pedagogical research, as well as with employers, to ensure that students studying here are equipped with skills required to succeed in a highly competitive graduate job market. 10 UNIVERSITY OF SUNDERLAND BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES OFFERED AT INTEL COLLEGE BSc (Hons) Applied Business Computing The BSc (Hons) Applied Business Computing Degree programme equips its graduates with the knowledge and abilities to enter into the business computing context working within project teams in large IT departments or specialist IT companies and software enterprises. Graduates will enter employment as developers, with appropriate knowledge and skills in the development and evaluation of business systems and user experiences. On the academic side, students will study approaches to research, including appropriate methodologies, data collection and analysis, while developing evidencebased action plans. To develop practical skills, students will undertake a major hands-on project that involves developing a working solution to a particular problem. Students are able to take advantage of professional level developer software and advanced hardware that INtel provides through accreditations with Microsoft and other major companies. A module on Project Management will prepare students for working within project teams in IT departments or specialist IT companies. Further modules include Product Development, Web Database Information Systems for Business, and User Experience Design. CLASS SCHEDULES All University of Sunderland classes at INtel college meet twice per week - either on weekdays from 530pm to 8pm or on Saturday mornings. This makes it convenient for working professionals. TEACHING AND ASSESSMENT on the UNIVERSITY OF SUNDERLAND PROGRAMME at INTEL COLLEGE All courses at INtel have University of Sunderland - approved lecturers managing the academic delivery of the course. Students are expected to attend classes where teaching delivery includes lectures, tutorials, seminars and discussion sessions. Students also have access to the University s virtual spaces, SUNSPACE for additional course material. Assessments come from the University and are graded by the university. Assessments encompass a blend of activities including portfolios, case studies examinations etc. UNIVERSITY LIBRARY SERVICES Students on the University of Sunderland Programmes at INtel College benefit from membership to the University s online library, DISCOVER. Students have access to numerous books, journals, conference proceedings and full-text articles which offer upto-date academic and industry articles. In addition, the college offers eligible students an opportunity to borrow the essential text book for a course, for the period of the semester under the college book-loan programme. LEARNING RESOURCES Students at INtel College enjoy a variety of resources from free access to broad band internet from anywhere on the campus, to access to computer labs, technologyenriched classroom and reading areas. 9

11 BA (Hons) Business Management The BA (Hons) Business Management degree programme prepares graduates to work in managerial and professional roles in sales, finance, general business and the public sector. Students will undertake broad-based modules related to project management, strategic management accounting, contemporary business developments, human resource management and marketing strategies. Within marketing, students will look at strategic dimensions of the subject, covering conventional approaches, as well as digital aspects of marketing. The curriculum will also evaluate a range of marketing communication techniques and methods, in order to review consumer perspectives in terms of buying behaviour. Within Project Management, analysis of recent projects and assessment of their operation against a number of key criteria such as risk, design and control will be evaluated. ICDL serves as a pre-university course for IT skills competence, and provides computer skills necessary in the work place. INtel offers a variety of short courses in Business and IT.
