The survey had a response rate of 79%. In my position monitoring citywide performance measures, I implement skills I learned from program evaluation courses in combination with resources from research methods, applied statistics, cost-benefit analysis and economics classes. While in the program, I worked with the school s Career Services to determine the elements of my previous work experience and skillset that were noteworthy. We improved my written professional development materials and improved my language in preparation for job interviews. As a result, I was able to secure post-graduation alternatives in advance, and increase my potential for shaping the career in policy analysis that I wanted. I was able to apply my coursework during my time working on Capitol Hill in the House and Senate. Following graduation, the courses at TSPPPA provided a tremendous foundation that is well-rounded and instantly applicable. As a veteran, I received support from the Post-9/11 GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon Program. GW s Office of Military and Veterans Student Services handled all of my financial concerns that came up throughout the semesters. I have spoken with veterans at other schools about the challenges they encountered without such a dedicated support network, so I know firsthand how fortunate veterans at GW are to have such a dedicated office. I have a greater understanding of the importance of conducting original research and integrating the results to solve present world issues. While I was enrolled, I participated in the Women s Leadership Fellows (WLF) program, which helped me to enhance my negotiation, verbal and nonverbal communication, and management skills. The WLF program along with the school s Career Services support helped position me for my current role with Johns Hopkins Medicine.
