2 MSCA - INTRODUCTION MCA in FP : Achievements ~ researchers financed in FP7 MCA, of 140 nationalities ~ projects funded in FP7 ( 4.7 billion funding in total) > 85 countries with participations of various host organisations > nearly 11% of participants are from the private sector, 21% in Initial Training Networks (ITN) All scientific areas covered: bottom-up approach 38% of MSCA participants are women (women represent 33% of EU researchers) 2

4 MSCA MSCA Objective: Ensure the optimum development and dynamic use of Europe s intellectual capital in order to generate new skills, knowledge and innovation Budget : million million in 2016 for all calls together 4

7 MSCA FUNDING Panels - overview Proposals are allocated to one of the 8 main evaluation panels: Chemistry (CHE) Social Sciences and Humanities (SOC) Economic Sciences (ECO) Information Science and Engineering (ENG) Environment and Geosciences (ENV) Life Sciences (LIF) Mathematics (MAT) Physics (PHY) In ITN, separate multidisciplinary panels for industrial and joint doctorates In IF, separate multidisciplinary panels for the Career Restart (CAR), Reintegration (RI), and Society & Enterprise (SE). In COFUND, two panels: Doctoral programmes and Fellowship programmes. 7

13 Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) Objective Scope promote international and inter-sector collaboration through research and innovation staff exchanges foster a shared culture of research and innovation International and inter-sector transfer of knowledge and sharing of ideas Common research and innovation project Highly skilled research and innovation staff Within Europe: only inter-sector secondments No secondments between institutions located outside Europe or within the same MS/AC Expected Impact strengthen the interaction between organisations in the academic and nonacademic sectors, and between Europe and third countries 13
14 Individual Fellowships (IF) Objective enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers provide opportunities to acquire new knowledge, work on research projects in a European context or outside Europe, resume a career or return to Europe Expected Impact release the full potential of researchers and to catalyse significant development in their careers in both the academic and non-academic sectors strengthen the contact network of the researcher and the host organisation For fellows coming to or moving within Europe (1) (2) For fellows from Europe going to Third countries and returning 14
