1 September 2017 Thank you for your interest in San Francisco Cooking School (SFCS). Your decision to invest in a culinary or pastry education is a big one, so I know you have lots of questions. Upon receiving your application, we look forward to inviting you in for a tour of our busy kitchens, a visit in the classroom, and a personal interview. We also schedule weekly open houses and you can find out about them via our website. In the meantime, we are committed to providing all the answers you need by phone or . We are processing applications now and will be accepting qualified applicants on a rolling basis for sessions with start dates over the next twelve months. Note that applications received on or after September 1, 2018 are subject to a tuition increase. With our Certificate Programs, we offer a contemporary curriculum that is rigorous and fast-paced. Admission is selective. SFCS is a small private school with sessions limited to only 14 students, so we encourage you to apply early. Prior food experience is not required. We are looking for people with an evident curiosity for all things food related, and a desire to transition that into a career. 2 Culinary & Pastry Arts Certificate Program Application Package San Francisco Cooking School Culinary & Pastry Arts Training: Made in San Francisco BEFORE YOU BEGIN: SFCS reviews all applications that we receive. Please note that nothing you send as part of your application will be returned. Do not submit any original documents. Proof of education, in the form of an official transcript or GED results, are not required as part of your application but will be requested prior to enrollment. Your completed application tells us a lot about you. Take time to think through your answers and personal statements. The Admissions Committee takes particular note of your passion and commitment through the initiative you take in documenting these areas. All applicants must demonstrate their proficiency in the English language at a level adequate for success at SFCS. If your primary spoken language is other than English, you will be required to submit TOEFL scores. Our admissions staff is available to answer any questions you have. 3 How to Apply 5 Simple Steps 1. Ask for Recommendations SFCS requires two (2) professional recommendations with your application. These can be your manager, a co-worker, client or a professional mentor. If you are currently a student or recently graduated, you can provide one educational reference from a teacher or administrator who knows you well. These references help us get to know your work habits and professional manner. 2. Complete the Application Form Carefully read the entire form before you begin. Be sure to initial and sign where requested. If you have any questions, don t hesitate to contact us at admissions@sfcooking.com. 3. Enclose Your Application Fee A $50 non-refundable application fee must be included in your completed packet. You may include a check or money order made out to San Francisco Cooking School. If you are accepted into the program, the fee will be applied towards your tuition. 4. Send Your Completed Application Materials to SFCS Admissions. 7 HEALTH CONDITIONS and DIETARY RESTRICTIONS A critical success factor in completing the programs at San Francisco Cooking School is regularly tasting and evaluating food that is prepared as part of the coursework. 8 TUITION SCHEDULE Tuition for the Culinary Arts Certificate programs at SFCS is $29,275 plus a kit fee $575. Tuition for the Pastry Arts Certificate programs at SFCS is $29,275 plus kit fee $600. These fees are applicable for all enrollments through August Applications received on or after September 1, 2018 are subject to a tuition increase. I understand that SFCS does not take any government financial aid and that I am fully responsible for my tuition as per the schedule indicated above.
