4 Goal 1: Student Success. All students demonstrate they are on a path toward success in college, career and citizenship. Objective 1: Empowered - All students are empowered in their learning to set and achieve their aspirations for the future. Objective 2: Whole Child - All students are safe, healthy, and supported in school, so that they can engage fully in high-quality educational opportunities. Objective 3: Well Rounded - A ll students are offered and engage in rigorous, well rounded education so that students are prepared to be successful in their post-high school goals. Objective 4: Prepared and Resilient - All students transition successfully throughout their educational experiences. Outcome: By the end of three years, Rationale: 1. Provide students the opportunity to practice life fitness. 2. Revisit the bell schedule to provide students opportunities to explore academic & career options. 3. Install & maintain air conditioning for all classrooms on campus. 4. Provide students with access to electives that match their interests & coursework that aligns with their future plans. 5. Implement a PBIS program to increase attendance & reduce behavioral issues/concerns. 6. Vertical alignment of math curriculum; LHS annually, at least one day K-12 within 3 yrs. 1. Addresses the importance of staying active throughout life & students whole well being; intellectually, socially, & physically. 2. The current schedule prohibits &/or limits students enrolling in Running Start, college courses, externships, and internships. 3. Research shows students learn better in a climate controlled environment. 4. Course offering should reflect students interests & support towards their future occupational and academic goals. 5. Research shows that when a school environment is positive & predictable, students feel safer, have better academic performance, & make better behavior choices. Schools show a gain in instructional time, reduction in out of school suspensions & discipline referrals. 6. Familiarization with state curriculum for consistency & continuity of expectations. 5 Goal 2: Staff Success. Lahainaluna High School has a high-performing culture where employees have the training, support and professional development to contribute effectively to student success. Outcome: By the end of three years, 1. Comprehensive & up-to-date faculty handbook of clear expectations, goals, & dates for staff reference. 2. Revisit bell schedule to support interdisciplinary teaming time 3. Explore opportunities for relevant, customized & affordable professional development 4. Consideration of teachers time will be given when scheduling meeting. 5. Continue the Induction & Mentoring program to support new teachers. Rationale: 1. All staff is aware of school policy, deadlines, & milestones. 2. While the desire exists for interdisciplinary units, time to collaborate is limited. 3. Currently, there are limited opportunities for relevant & affordable PD. School-wide PD has been organized & facilitated by a small representation of the staff. 4. Effective & efficient meeting demonstrate & reflect a effective & productive school environment. 5. New teachers benefit from meeting time with experienced & successful teachers. Goal 3: Successful Systems of Support. The system and culture of Lahainaluna High School works to effectively organize financial, human, and community resources in support of student success. Outcome: By the end of three years, 1. Continue to build upon the success of the LHS Festival to include student showcase & aspects of Parent Information Nights. 2. Continue to improve technology in the every classroom 3. Practice fairness & consistency with discipline policies. 4. Administration with share with staff additional funds & projected usage. 5. Streamline the formative instruction/ data team process to include research based practices with clear & consistent expectations. 6. Explore options to restructure Leadership including representation & voting process. Rationale: 1. Clubs & Classes by Year benefit from the financial support of the LHS Festival. Through the expansion community support will increase for academically related excellence. 2. Updated technology is essential for supporting successful learning environments. 3. Clear discipline policies promote fairness and equality for students, teachers, administration, and families. 4. Transparency & communication provide for the making of a successful 5.
