2 INTRODUCTION The present day phenomenal acceleration in global competition - both in education and employment - requires use of higher levels of technology, more particularly computers and internet for browsing, understanding and retaining large volumes of information exploding every second and putting in more and more mental and physical efforts, ignoring the negative effects of this kind of high-tech lifestyle, coupled with long hours of work, eating at wrong and long breaks, etc. But this style is an absolute must for those who want to "race and stay ahead" in the present Corporate environment. The information acquisition and retention and its use at appropriate times create such an amount of accumulated pressure on the brain beyond what it can bear. The negative side-effects of this type of lifestyle are overwhelmingly significant and could have a devastating impact on human life. The high level of stress generated out of this lifestyle could cause heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes type2, anxiety, clinical depression, sleep disorders, weight gaining due to irregular eating, muscular pathology and more. Professionals/executives have hardly any times left to be spent for family, social, religious and spiritual life and so on which act as "normal vents" for release of such stress/tension. MOHAMMAD MASOOD AHMED Career Summary: A Professor of Healthcare Management with five post-graduate degrees, one each in Management, Commerce, Economics, Psychology and Management Research, he is the Former President, Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) - a networking organization of about 650 top national management institutes including IIMs, ISB, XLRI, MDI, etc. presently he is Director, Indo-US Hospital, Hyderabad, and Director General VVISM, Hyderabad and he was Principal Deccan School of Management for a period of 20 years. Other Professional Bodies associated (ISTD) and Treasurer, Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD) and Trasurer, Association of Health & Hospital Administrators (AHHA).
