45 College Costs in Context Nearly two-thirds of Hoosiers graduate with college debt. Indiana s college debt load ranks 8th highest in the country at more than $27,000 on average. Indiana s student loan default rate ranks 3rd highest in the nation. U.S. graduating class of 2011 is the most indebted in history.

46 Is College Worth It? Four out of five jobs lost during the recession were held by workers with a high school diploma or less. Hoosiers with a high school diploma are three times more likely to be unemployed compared to workers with a college degree.
