Those whose university is not yet a partner of UGM, can apply directly for a non-degree study in UGM as a free mover with tuition fee apply. ACADEMICS Academic Calendar Credits Grading Systems For students from non-partner universities: - Tuition fee of 90 USD per credit is applied - Non-refundable service fee (for Study Permit, Visa Authorisation, Limited Stay Permit, and Multiple Exit Reentry Permit) is applied: 278 USD for one semester; 407 USD for a year; and 653 USD for 2 years. Syllabi of courses at International Undergraduate Programme in Public Policy and Management: Student Service INSURANCE AND VISA Insurance International students have access to UGM Central Library, FISIPOL Library, wireless internet, student gym, sports centre, and campus bicycle. Students can also join various extracurricular clubs both at the university and faculty level. Universitas Gadjah Mada provides an optional private health insurance scheme for international students. Therefore, the students can choose to purchase the insurance provided by UGM or bring their own insurance. The insurance should cover health, accident, and life. Visa If the students choose to purchase the insurance provided by UGM, they should pay the fee on the same time as student service fee payment. The type of Indonesian visa used for study purpose is Limited Stay Visa (VITAS). Office of International Affairs (OIA) UGM will assist the students on the process to obtain it. Approximately 3 to 4 months of time are required to obtain the visa; the procedure is as follows: 1. International students will get a Letter of Offer to pay for nonrefundable service fee upon the successful acceptance of application 2. The Letter of Acceptance is issued upon completing the service fee payment 3. The application will then be processed for a study permit issuance at the Directorate of Higher Education in Jakarta. The process takes 1-2 months. 4. The calling visa/visa authorisation will be processed by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights once the study permit is available. The process takes 1-2 months. 5. A copy of calling visa is released and sent to student via . Student is required to submit the calling visa to the Indonesian Embassy during the time of visa application. Please note that calling visa/visa authorisation IS NOT A VISA. It is just a permission from Immigration Office in Jakarta that the student is allowed to apply for Limited Stay Visa. LIVING IN YOGYAKARTA Special Service for Exchange Student GEO FISIPOL UGM cooperates with student volunteer group called UGM Buddy Club to assist incoming international students to settle into their new life in Yogyakarta. The assistance will cover activities related to: finding accommodation, cultural adaptation, setting mobile communication, language assistance and other necessities. 4

6 Cost of Living Every international student will be paired with one local buddy ready to give assistance when needed. GEO FISIPOL UGM also organises exciting cultural activities under Cross Cultural Understanding Club (CCUC) to provide opportunities for international and domestic students to interact and befriend each other. Yogyakarta is among the cheapest places to live in Indonesia. A regular lifestyle for many locals in the city would not cost more than IDR (130 USD) per month. The lower margin for international student living expenses in Yogyakarta would cost approximately IDR (230 USD) and the upper margin would be beyond IDR (380 USD) all in monthly basis.
