2 Malda College was established in the year 1944 and with over 6,000 students in a total of 18 Honours and 4 Pass Course; it is one of the largest educational institution of West Bengal. Apart from 18 Honours Course at undergraduate level the College also offers Bachelor of Computer Application (B.C.A) and postgraduate course in Bengali, English and History. Qualification and rules for admission in under graduate course provided by Gour Banga University

6 1) One has to qualify Higher Secondary Examination with pass marks in five subjects (pass marks in English and Environmental Science are mandatory). 2) The best five marks obtained in Higher Secondary Examination shall compulsorily include English and compulsorily exclude Environmental Science will be used to calculate merit point. 3) Students who have passed in the previous academic years (2014 and 2015) are eligible for admission. However, 10 % (2014) and 5% (2015) marks will be deducted from the merit point. 4) Students who have passed before the academic session 2014 (i.e and earlier) are not eligible for admission. 5) Minimum marks for admission in Honours course is 45% in aggregate or 40% in aggregate and 50% in the subject opted for Honours. If any applicant has not scored required marks in H.S. or equivalent examination then his/her application form will be rejected. 5% relaxation from this standard will be applicable for ST and SC candidates. 6) Formula for merit point calculation: Merit Marks = Marks of Honours Subject Opted + 5 Best Marks 6 ** best marks as per point 2 above, may include the marks of Honours subject also. 7) If the student has not studied the subject for which he/she has opted for Honours then the merit point will be calculated as follows: 5 Best Marks Merit Marks = 6 ** best marks as per point 2 above. 8) If the student has not studied Computer science, Economics, Accounting, Zoology and Botany but wishes to study any of these as Honours subject then the marks of following subjects will be used to calculate merit point in lieu of Honours subject marks as per formulas in point 6 above. 7 10) Students, who have studied vocational courses under West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training or any other recognized body are NOT eligible for Honours Course. However, they are eligible for admission in general course, provided they have compulsorily studied English at +2 level. 11) Student of Boards other than West Bengal (WBCHSE) will have to submit migration certificate at the time of admission. 12) Students who have studied under any open school or distance education institutions are not eligible for admission to any Honours or Pass Course. 13) Total admission will be through e-counseling after pre-counseling verification as per merit list. 14) If any students from Jammu and Kashmir apply for admission to any course then the intake capacity of the respective subject will be increased by two. Admission related other important points: 1) The student must create only one account on College website and can apply for any number of subjects through a single account. 2) The student will have to pay Rs. 100/- + bank & service charge for applying up to 3 subjects. If the student so desire, he/she can apply for up to six subjects in a single challan by paying Rs. 200/- + bank & service charge. 3) After 48 hours of challan payment at bank, the student must update the payment by logging in to their registered account on the college website. The student will be able to print the application form only after updating the payment status. 4) Merit list will be published on 13 th June 2016 after 12 noon. 5) The students must attend pre-counseling verification else they will not be able to participate in e- counseling. The list of students called for first batch of pre-counseling verification will be published on 13 th June 2016 along with the merit list. More such lists may be published if and when required. 6) Participation in pre-counseling verification is essential for online admission but it does not guarantee that the student will be admitted. 7) Those candidatures who are called for pre-counseling verification must be present themselves or their authorized representative along with the following documents i. Print out of admission form ii. Bank Challan, (the College Part must be submitted to college). iii. The following documents must be produced during pre-counseling verification a) Proof of date of birth (MP admit ) b) HS mark sheet c) Caste certificate if applicable d) PH certificate if applicable 8) e-counseling will be held as per merit list for those candidates who have attended precounseling verification. 9) If the student has applied for more than one subject then he/she must attend the pre-counseling verifications for each of the applied subject, as and when called for.

8 10) During e-counseling, those students who are eligible for admission will be informed through e- mail & college website. 11) The student eligible for admission must log in to their registered account within the announced period to complete the admission procedure and print the challan. 12) After printing challan the money must be paid at any branch of United Bank of India within the time mentioned on the challan. 13) The student must update the payment status by logging in to their registered account on the College website after 48 hours of payment. 14) If the student has been provisionally admitted in one subject and becomes eligible for another subject then he/she can get admitted to the second subject if he/she desire. However, the admission to the first subject will be automatically cancelled and the student will not get a chance to switch back to the old subject. 15) The admitted students will have to report to college with original documents and submit 2 sets of the following documents (self attested) as per the schedule to be published on College notice board and website. i. Marks sheet of higher secondary exam (or equivalent exam)** ii. Admit card of Madhyamik examination iii. Caste Certificate (if the student is ST or SC card holder)*** iv. PH certificate (for physically handicapped students) v. School leaving certificate vi. Migration Certificate (for the students of other state boards) vii. 2 copies of passport size photograph of the candidate. ** If the HS/equivalent mark sheet is laminated, the candidate must remove a part of the lamination to facilitate placing the college stamp on the mark sheet. *** If the students don t have their own SC, ST, OBC certificate, they can submit cast certificate of their father. In such case they have to present the Madhyamik Examination admit card. As per WB Govt. order caste certificate issued by Panchayet Pradhan, Municipality Chairman/Councillor MLA, MP, Member/Sabhadhipati of Zilla Parishad, Member/Sabhapati of Panchayet Samiti will be accepted for admission procedure only. 16) If any information provided at the time of form fill up does not match with original documents then the admission will be cancelled. Admission will be provisionally confirmed only after the documents have been submitted. 17) In case of Arabic (Honours) if the ST or SC seats remain vacant, then such seats will be filled up with students from general caste. This rule is not applicable for other subjects. 18) If any student has less than 75% attendance during the first 15 days of classes then his/her admission will be cancelled and the vacant seat so created will be filled up through counseling. 19) The College has 3 boys hostel of which one is reserved for SC/ST candidates. The girl s hostel is almost ready and is expected to be commissioned during the academic session. 20) The above mentioned admission procedure and dates may change. However, if this happens, the same shall be notified on the college website and notice board. 21) The students must have a working mobile number and an id to complete the admission procedure. The students are encouraged to use their own/family e mail id and mobile number because the same shall be used for all future communications.
