Detailed instructions for the proposal should be followed. A checklist is available to assist in the preparation of a proposal. Submission of new majors or requests for permanent status will find additional requirements and information here. 2 Provide a brief summary of the proposed program changes and describe the rationale for the change(s): (Explain your reasons for creating, revising, or deleting the curriculum or program.) The proposed change simply clarifies the elective requirement for the degree. The current requirements stipulate that students must take 6-18 elective credits from any COMM course open to majors. In the past, the catalog then lists all the courses open to majors. This created a problem when we added or changed courses because we have had to submit a full the APA program revision every time we add or delete COMM courses to the inventory. We propose changing the wording to simply state that any course open to COMM majors can be taken as an elective. This will also clarify the requirement for students and make it easier to understand. This will also eliminate the need to formally revise our Acacdemic Program with an updated electives list whenever we create or eliminate courses. List new courses required for the new or revised curriculum. How do they support the overall program objectives of the major/minor/concentrations)? (Be aware that approval of the curriculum is dependent upon these courses successfully passing through the Course Challenge list.
