1 GAP: The Guaranteed Admission Program for Connecticut Community College Students
2 You re dedicated to bettering yourself. You ve done what you need to start your journey at a community college, and now you re looking to push yourself further to pursue a bachelor s degree. UConn s Guaranteed Admission Program, or GAP, may be for you. There s a place for you at the University of Connecticut. GAP is an agreement between UConn and Connecticut community colleges that provides access and affordability to students who have made higher education their goal. After completing a liberal arts associate degree transfer program or other approved program, students enrolled in GAP can seamlessly transfer to any UConn campus to pursue a major in one of the following UConn schools or colleges without needing to apply: College of Agriculture, Health, and Natural Resources College of Liberal Arts and Sciences School of Business
3 Save money. Completing your first two years of transferable coursework at a Connecticut community college allows for substantial savings to your overall tuition costs. Through GAP, and the President to President Scholarship, students can save up to fifty percent of tuition expenses for a UConn bachelor s degree. Know you ll get in. As long as you complete the requirements, you re guaranteed admission to the University of Connecticut, one of the nation s top 25 public universities. Graduate on time. Research has shown that once GAP students enroll at UConn, they complete their bachelor s degrees at comparable rates to those who begin their college careers on UConn s main campus. Access special scholarship opportunities. The President-to-President Scholarship is available exclusively to GAP transfer students who have completed a liberal arts associate degree or other approved program and have the endorsement of their designated GAP community college advisor and community college president. This scholarship provides students financial assistance once they are enrolled at UConn while rewarding success at a Connecticut community college. Qualified students will be awarded $4,000 a year for two years (four semesters total) as long as they maintain the terms and conditions of the University of Connecticut merit scholarship programs. Visit gap.uconn.edu for the latest information on program details, deadlines, and benefits.
