4 Mike Farrug is the lead day counselor. He has worked as a behavioral clinician at St. John s Hospital. Mike is responsible for all transcript evaluations, course selections, and meeting with parents and prospective students. He has been with RACE for four years. Linda Cianferra provides daytime counseling support. She has been with the program for 14 years and specializes in the area of Career Focused Career Education and job placement. Additionally, she is responsible for teaching a Career Preparation class educating students on career research, resume writing, job hunting skills and appropriate business protocol and employee rights. Larry Kluge is a member of our evening counseling staff. He has worked as a teacher and counselor in the program for almost 30 years. Currently, he provides counseling for students who attend on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Nicole Leonard is a member of our evening counseling team. She works as Behavioral Therapist during the day and supplies counseling support to our Monday and Thursday evening students.

8 *Students who have more than six (6) credits who were schedule to graduate in 2008 to 2012 will have to earn the following 22 credits in the areas listed below: STUDENT COMPLETION PLAN English/Lang Arts 4.0 Credits Math 4.0 Science 3.0 Social Studies 3.0 World History I & II U.S History I & II Government Economics Health/PE 1.0 Visual Performing, Applied Arts 1.0 Elective 6.0 Careers.5

9 At RACE we offer four (4) marking periods a school year (MP 1, 2, 3, 4) Students can earn up to eight (8) credits in a full daytime schedule attending four marking periods* A fulltime schedule is considered four (4) classes Additional classes can be taken* * Students have the potential to earn more credits by taking additional classes in the evening for a per-class fee. See counselors for specific details on guidelines.

10 Students who are able to provide paystubs that equal 250 work hours are eligible to receive a ½ credit upon documentation approval. Students are eligible to earn up to two (2) work credits towards their high school requirements. Eligibility is determined by counselor evaluation of appropriate documentation.

11 Daytime courses offered in two (2) hour blocks as listed below: 8:00-10:00 a.m. 10:00-12:00 p.m. 12:00-1:00 Lunch Break * *Students can leave campus for lunch 1:00-3:00 p.m. 3:00-5:00 p.m.

12 Our evening program is as follows: Monday & Wednesday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Evening breaks and duration of them are subject to teacher discretion.

13 Online course using e2020, a Rochester Community Schools online educational system. e2020 offers a variety of core curriculum courses to assist students to fulfill their high school program requirements. Each lab is supervised by a certified teacher. Classes can be in the school lab or as a distance learning option from home. Distance learning options are handled per counselor discretion. Counselors work carefully with students to identify if this option will fit the student s learning needs. Any live class being taught during the day or evening can be a credit recovery option, too.

14 Fridays are reserved for scheduled make-up classes or tutoring assistance to help our students be successful and reach their graduation goal. See your counselor for specific Friday dates for additional academic assistance. Our goal is to provide support for student success!

15 If you are a high school student and interested in receiving training in auto body, patient care, culinary arts, cosmetology or other programs Oakland Technical School may be for you! Students are required to complete an application before the beginning of the next school year with a RACE counselor. Students must also supply a completed Educational Development Plan (EDP) with their application to Oakland Technical School. Students must take at least one class at RACE AND supply their own transportation to the Campus. If you are interested, speak to a RACE counselor about specific details.
