2 Don Nieman Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs I am responsible for all academic programs at Binghamton, including our seven colleges and schools, admissions, the libraries, the art museum, and the Anderson Center. I oversee University budgets and finance and Communications and Marketing. I teach courses on modern U.S. history, the history of civil rights in the U.S., and Abraham Lincoln and presidential leadership. I am fascinated by politics and enjoy writing op-eds, including one that appeared recently in the Washington Post. My wife is a history professor, too. We have a thirteen-year-old son, Brady, who is a constant source of joy. My son and I are probably the most rabid Yankee fans on the planet. Last summer, Brady and I took in three Yankees games and Les Mis. Other hobbies include running, reading, music (listening, not playing), gardening, and coaching my son s Teener League baseball team. I prefer to mentor students who are eager to explore the amazing range of opportunities the University and life have to offer. Terrence Deak Professor of Psychology With 16 years at Binghamton University, I maintain an active research laboratory in the general area of Behavioral Neuroscience, with specific interests in the neurobiology of stress, alcohol, and aging. My role as a scientist has been a central and grounding force by which I approach the various administrative roles I've held, ranging from Chief of Staff in the President's office to interim Dean of Harpur College. I would be delighted to interact with students from all backgrounds and interests.

3 Ann Merriwether Lecturer in Departments of Psychology and Human Development; Affiliated with Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Ann Merriwether earned her BA, MA, and PhD from Penn State, all in psychology, after beginning her academic study in animal science. She does research on sexual socialization and reproductive health attitudes. She loves teaching and teaches everything from large introductory courses to small seminars. Her courses cover the topics of gender, sex, birth, and death. She retains her interest in animal science and agriculture and she and husband bought a farm in Vestal in When not teaching or doing research, Ann loves working on the family alpaca and sheep farm with her husband, two daughters, Kenni and Helen, and the family dogs. She is also passionate about fiber arts. I prefer to mentor someone interested in the study of psychology, gender, and/or sexuality. If you have an interest in any of the following, that would be fun, too: dogs, Dr. Who, fiber arts. Anna Addonisio Senior Associate Dean for Administration, Harpur College of Arts and Sciences I am the Associate Vice Provost for Administration and Strategy. Together with the vice provost for undergraduate education and enrollment, I am currently working with units across Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Education to develop a Strategic Enrollment Management infrastructure and planning process for the University. I have a broad range of management experience spanning over 25 years in higher education, public accounting, and corporate finance. Known as a strategic thinker and inspiring leader, I embrace the core values of integrity, innovation, and growth. I hold an MBA and BS in Accounting from Binghamton University, and am a Certified Public Accountant. I am an American Council on Education (ACE) fellow and a graduate of the Harvard Management Leadership in Higher Education program. I adjunct teach for the scholars program and the School of Management. I have two wonderful boys 17 and 20 and one lovely beagle mix with an insatiable appetite named Lola. I enjoy traveling the world, cooking, and playing tennis and golf. I hope to mentor those that think I will make a positive difference in their careers and lives. They must love rescue dogs.

4 Brian Rose Vice President of Student Affairs Brian Rose oversees most student and auxiliary services at the University and so can be a useful guy to bring almost any complaint (which he reserves the right to ignore). Prior to Binghamton, Brian spent 17 years at Rutgers University. Brian earned his bachelor s degree from Penn and law degree from Georgetown. He practiced law (commercial real estate) before his higher education career. Brian serves on the Lourdes Hospital Board of Directors and recently concluded seven years of service on the Board of Directors of the Maine- Endwell Little League. Brian and his wife Kirsten live in Endwell with their children, Matthew and Meredith, where they proudly fly Boston sports flags. I would like to mentor Scholars who may have interests in public health, urban planning and policy, and higher education policy. I would also like to mentor New York sports fans so I can engage in conversion therapy and save them before it s too late. Elizabeth Mellin Director of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral Program, College of Community and Public Affairs Liz Mellin conducts research on engaging community organizations in public education and helping youth succeed in their schools, homes, and neighborhoods. She teaches courses on counseling children and adolescents, interdisciplinary research, and community engagement. Liz lives in Ithaca with her wife Allison, son Marshall (age 5), and English Lab, KaBoom!. She loves to cook, play board games, and be outside hiking, biking, walking her dog, or running. Liz also loves listening to political podcasts, reading news blogs, and watching television shows from Empire to American Crime to This Is Us. I am interested in mentoring students who don t fit nicely into boxes, students who question prevailing norms. I d particularly welcome students who are majoring in the social sciences and who are committed to making public schools safer and more affirming places for children and youth to thrive. Students who love to talk politics and eat good food would also be a good fit.

Ann Fronczek Assistant Professor, Decker School of Nursing As a nurse, my previous experience has included oncology and medical nursing. I have taught undergraduate students in both areas.

Outside the university, I enjoy time with my family, including my daughter in the third grade, who is a Brownie girl scout, dancer, and budding artist.

5 Ann Fronczek Assistant Professor, Decker School of Nursing As a nurse, my previous experience has included oncology and medical nursing. I have taught undergraduate students in both areas. My teaching focus now has been on preparing nurses to be faculty. My current area of research is in telehealth and healthcare technology use by nurses. Outside the university, I enjoy time with my family, including my daughter in the third grade, who is a Brownie girl scout, dancer, and budding artist. We have a few furry kids cats and a dog and fish, too. I enjoy golfing, equestrian-related activities, gardening, and being outdoors in good weather. I have thoroughly enjoyed mentoring Scholars students in past years. I prefer to mentor those intending to major in nursing or a related healthcare field. Michael Elmore Director of Engineering Design Division Mike Elmore was an engineer in industry for many years prior to his position at Binghamton University. He is married with three children: Andrea, a nutritional scientist; Brendan, an engineer; and Chris, a veterinarian. Susan, his wife, was an elementary school teacher. He majored in philosophy and minored in psychology before earning an advanced degree in secondary school mathematics education. He taught high school for several years before going back to school to study engineering. He enjoys reading and hiking through the woods as a member of the Triple Cities Hiking Club. He was an athlete, having played soccer and run marathons before knee problems came along. He teaches 1st-year engineering and sustainable energy courses. 6 Michael Lewis Associate Professor, Computer Science Mike Lewis has designed and taught a wide variety of courses, at all levels. His research interests include harnessing the computational power of large scale distributed computing environments, and using data analytics to find the next Kentucky Derby winner. He and his wife, Stephanie, have twin sons and a daughter, all high school age. Lewis grew up in Rhode Island and graduated from Duke University, making him an avid Boston sports and Duke basketball fan, but not obnoxiously so (usually). He enjoys working with kids, coaching sports and teaching computer coding from Kindergarten through high school age. I prefer to mentor students who embrace the idea that the best education includes experiences that the students pursue and help create for themselves, outside of the classroom. I will have the most in common with outgoing and active students who like math, science, computers, and good food. Leon Cosler Founding Chair, Department of Health Outcomes and Administrative Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences I am excited to be a part of Binghamton University s new School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. I have my Bachelor s degree in Pharmacy and went on to receive my Ph.D. in Health Systems Administration. I am a licensed pharmacist in New York, but I have spent most of my career doing other types of work. For 15+ years, I did pharmacy related research for the New York State Medicaid program in Albany. But my passion is clearly being a professor, so I spent almost 15 years on the faculty of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. I came to Binghamton University in July 2015 to help build this brand new school of pharmacy. I currently chair the Department of Health Outcomes in the School of Pharmacy. The types of courses in my department focus on how we prove that new medications or services really make people better, or save money. In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, and I try to golf (I need a lot of practice!). I prefer to mentor students who really want to get something out of working with a faculty mentor. I'm a good listener, and I hope to mentor students who aren't afraid to ask questions about whatever might be on their mind.

I grew up in St. Louis, attended four different colleges throughout my collegiate career, choosing my first three for baseball. I finally chose Butler University for the right reasons, and stayed there. I also changed my major seven times, ranging from art to chemistry. Changing schools and majors so often led me to my career in student affairs where I get to encourage students to ask the right questions and help them achieve what they want out of life. I received my master s and PhD from the University of Mississippi in student affairs, and have worked for four different universities in various jobs over the last 10 years. I love building, working on my house, climbing, and hanging out with my family and my five dogs. I would like to mentor any student that needs some help finding out what they want to do with their life. Rachael Perry Director of Admissions, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences I went to a very small high school less than 30 minutes from Binghamton, so I am very familiar with the local area. When I first started my undergraduate studies at Keuka College, I was not sure what career path I wanted to take. I majored in mathematical sciences because it was something I enjoyed and excelled at. I also played on the varsity volleyball team. I am pursuing a master s degree in Student Affairs Administration here at Binghamton University. Prior to my position as Director of Admissions, I was an admissions counselor at Keuka College, and the freshman and sophomore pre-health advisor in Harpur Advising. In my free time, I enjoy running with Wilson, my dog. I also enjoy yoga, reading, and trying new restaurants. I would like to mentor a student who may have an interest in pharmacy or other health related field. I am also open to mentoring a student who is undecided.

As a graduate student, Michelle was a graduate assistant for New Student Programs and continued her role as a resident assistant. In her free time, Michelle enjoys relaxing with her family and dog, exploring the hiking trails of Central NY, reading, running, and visiting family in NY and Smith Mountain Lake, VA. She is excited to meet everyone and work so closely with you in the Scholars Program! Rosa, AIR. I am a proud graduate of Binghamton University, class of A Political Science major, I graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors and then went on to receive my Juris Doctor at Michigan State University College of Law in I was extremely fortunate to have amazing mentors throughout my four years at Binghamton and now, as your Professional Mentor, I am in a similar position to help you maximize your potential. My goal is simple. I hope to inspire you to become the CEO of your life. Let s explore your academic, personal and career goals.
