NI.1. NI.2. NI.3. NI.4. NI.5. NI.6. NI.7. Attendance in classes is mandary from the very beginning of the semester. Students who miss even a single lecture from among the first three lectures of a course are liable have themselves de registered from the corresponding course. Many Academic Units organize an Orientation Programme for Teaching Assistants and an R&D Orientation for new Postgraduate/ Undergraduate entrants. An Institute level orientation is also often organized for these purposes. Attendance and participation in the orientation p rogramme is mandary for Teaching Assistants. Absence from it will make the Teaching Assistant liable for a financial penalty in the scholarship/ financial support. All academic units/ Instrucrs of Institute Core Courses are expected organize the orientation in a format which they find appropriate, enable the best use of the services of Teaching Assistants. Saturdays may be used conduct Mid semester and Semester end Examinations. An effort is normally made exclude Sundays and public holidays for mandated academic activities, including examinations. Registration for half semester courses should also be completed at the beginning of the semester. While adjusting the courses (including dropping of courses), students should ensure that the prescribed load, as approved for each programme, is maintained. Re examinations shall be conducted by the Academic Office for students in courses, where they are awarded II/FF Grades. Dates for payment of fees by New Entrants will be informed the candidates while offering admission and will also be put on IITB website. These dates could be different for various programmes offered by the Institute. Students (PG/UG) other than the New Entrants can deposit their semester fees as per schedule displayed by the Academic Office before the end of examination for the earlier semester.
6 NI.8. NI.9. The dates for Spring 2016 may be re adjusted after holidays are known. There will not be any instruction (lectures / turials / lab sessions) in the afternoons of the Convocation Day, Teachers Day, National Education Day, Foundation Day (on the day it is celebrated). A schedule for compensation of missed classes (if any) on the nearest Saturdays will be announced by the Academic Office after approval by the Institute Time Table Co ordinar. NI.10. A schedule of adjustments in the Institute Time Table will be announced, if needed, provide instruction hours in each 6 credit course and approximately balance the number of instruction hours in the two halves of a semester.

For the evaluations of Masters'/ Dual Degree Dissertations, the evaluation schedule in a given academic unit should be spread over a large enough segment of the permissible window, allow for possibilities of adjustment of the evaluation date(s) for an individual student, as also prevent overloading the faculty involved in evaluation with o many evaluations on a single day. For project / dissertation / credit seminar related presentations, report / dissertation should be submitted at least 7 days prior the date of presentation / assessment.
