2 Cleveland Clinic Overview The Cleveland Clinic is a multispecialty academic hospital center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. With more than 4,450 beds, Cleveland Clinic is one of the largest and most respected health systems nationally and internationally. The Cleveland Clinic's main campus consists of 41 buildings on 160 acres. It also operates 18 family health and ambulatory surgery centers in surrounding communities. In addition, Cleveland Clinic has affiliated facilities in Florida, Nevada, Canada, and Abu Dhabi. The Cleveland Clinic was founded in 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio by four renowned physicians with a vision of providing outstanding patient care based upon the principles of cooperation, compassion and innovation. The founders wanted to form a group practice in which individual members would share clinical expertise and specialization and would dedicate themselves to the education of future medical practitioners. It would also be a place where innovations in medical procedures and practices would be encouraged through basic and applied research activities. The four founders also envisioned a corporate structure that would support their vision. It involved the oversight and direction by a separate board of community trustees in matters unrelated to patient and medical practice issues. 3 Cleveland Clinic Investment Office Overview The Cleveland Clinic Investment Office (CCIO) is stewarded by the Investment Committee of the Board of Directors. Guided by the Investment Policy Statement for each of the investment portfolios, CCIO invests across a globally diversified pool of asset classes and employs many of the world s most successful investment managers for security selection of public and private equities, fixed income, absolute return strategies, real assets and derivative products. CCIO is a values-driven organization. From its inception in 2015, the Investment Committee and senior leadership sought to create a division of the Cleveland Clinic whose foundation is excellence and innovation. The Investment Office embraces a generalist model of investing where a team of experts are focused on delivering value to the total portfolio, engage in constructive debate, thrive on collaboration, embrace a sense of personal humility, and seek to continuously improve. CCIO is responsible for managing and growing the $8 billion investment portfolio. The Role The Cleveland Clinic Investment Office, a department within the Division of Finance, has several paid internships available. Responsibilities CCIO Intern will have a chance to work on the following types of projects o Assist with building an investment research platform to assess qualitative and quantitative trends and opportunities available to institutional investors: collect, organize and disseminate in a concise and coherent manner o Assist with using and refining asset allocation models for use in managing strategic asset allocation o Assist with design and enhancement of quarterly performance reports o Support ongoing investment manager due diligence/monitoring o Develop effective presentations to be used to summarize and discuss the mission, operations and results of the CCIO CCIO Intern will have the following learning opportunities o Weekly training/development courses with a cohort of interns on topics ranging from non-profit financial management to public speaking to Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) o Participation in weekly staff meetings as well as attendance at bi-weekly investment strategy and portfolio rebalancing meetings o Opportunity to observe meetings with institutional investment managers

4 Minimum Qualifications Strong interest in markets and investments Advanced knowledge of Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel; working knowledge of various financial data systems (i.e. Bloomberg) is a plus Knowledge of corporate finance theory, economics, capital markets, risk management theory, asset allocation theory, investment management theory, modeling skills and modern portfolio theory (portfolio optimization) Strong analytical skills Ability to work independently and on a team Self-disciplined and self-motivated Excellent analytical and communication skills EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or related field is preferred. Progress toward an MBA, Master's degree Finance or Economics in preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None required. Progress toward and/or interest in Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) certification preferred. COMPLEXITY OF WORK: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a demanding environment and respond appropriately. Must be able to juggle multiple assignments and execute in an effective and efficient manner.

5 REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of work experience preferred Progress toward a Master's degree may offset some required experience. Ability to complete sophisticated analytical, consultative and information support through analysis and report preparation. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work independently. Multi-asset investment experience or exposure across traditional and/or alternative asset classes (i.e. hedge funds, private equity, currency, and/or futures markets, etc.) is desirable. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Manual dexterity sufficient to operate computer. Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
