Stay on 220 South for 13 miles, take exit 74 to the left side. You will then be on Park Ave. Stay on Park Ave until you get to Beaver Stadium on your left. Then turn left onto University Drive. Stay on University Drive until it intersects with Atherton St. (Business Rt. 322). Turn right at the red light and we are approximately 1/4 mile on the left. From Harrisburg Follow signs to Route 22/322 West, past Lewistown. Proceed to the Boalsburg exit (also Business Route 322). Go approximately four miles, Ramada Inn is located on the left side of the street. From Pittsburgh Follow Route 22 to Duncansville. Take Route 220/I-99 North, bypassing Altoona & Tyrone. Rich, MD, MPH Professor and Chair: Department of Health Management and Policy, Drexel University School of Public Health Trauma Informed Care takes into account knowledge about trauma- its impact, interpersonal dynamics, and paths to recovery- and incorporates this knowledge in all aspects of service delivery. Trauma specific services are more focused: to address directly the impact of trauma on people s lives and to facilitate trauma recovery and healing. Hursey, MSW, CBIST, Regional Education Coordinator, Henry Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine Contracts for Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center The Iraq and Afghanistan wars have produced unprecedented numbers of military personnel and veterans with TBI and PTSD. Unique characteristics of these individuals place them at elevated risk for involvement with the legal system. These individuals are at increased risk to be incorrectly identified as intoxicated, acutely dangerous, or more broadly impaired than they are, increasing risks for everyone concerned. Early recognition and appropriate intervention can decrease problems and prevent counterproductive outcomes. This session will discuss signs, symptoms, assessment, and treatment options and resources for those affected by TBI and PTSD. Page 4

In April 2010, PA was awarded a federal grant to divert veterans with trauma-related mental health and/or substance use disorders from the justice system. This session will provide an overview of the state s plan and the pilots plans and implementation approaches to divert veterans who become involved in the justice system. 3:00 PM Evaluations, Continuing Education Validation and Adjournment.
