6 EIRQUEST ASSESSMENT Eirquest is a comprehensive career guidance programme designed for 3rd year students. It is based on a detailed interest questionnaire completed on-line. Eirquest is designed to assist the students: 1. Choose subjects for the Leaving Certificate 2. Highlight 8 potential Careers NB Students do not have to choose the subjects or careers suggested in your Eirquest Workbook.

Other Requirements: Individual College Matriculation Minimum requirements/grades in certain subjects ie Modern Language for general entry Course Subject Requirements Certain courses require particular subjects ie H5 in Honours Irish for primary school teaching And of course.. The Points ie. Arts NUIM 327

8 MATRICULATION NB: If a student is exempt from studying Irish or another Language They will be exempt from this subject as a matriculation requirement There is a process for this in 6 th year

10 ESTABLISHED LEAVING CERTIFICATE Two-year programme Study 7 subjects 7 subjects divided up as follows: Irish (unless exemption granted) English Maths 4 Options Possible option of an 8th Subject: LCVP or Applied Maths

11 SUBJECT CHOICE Students will be asked to pick 4 from the following: HISTORY GEOGRAPHY FRENCH ITALIAN MUSIC ART PHYSICS CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY BUSINESS ACCOUNTING DCG ENGINEERING CONSTRUCTION ECONOMICS CLASSICAL STUDIES RELIGION HOME ECONOMICS Select subjects that you have an interest in Select subjects required for 3rd level Be aware of LCVP combinations

12 SUBJECT CHOICE: THIRD LANGUAGE A 3rd Language is required by the NUI colleges NUI Colleges are: University College Dublin (UCD) Maynooth University University College Cork (UCC) Some Exceptions: Engineering + Science in NUIM and UCD Business and Law in NUIM Students with SLD S (specific learning difficulties)

21 WHAT IS THE LEAVING CERTIFICATE APPLIED? It is a distinct, self-contained two-year Leaving Certificate programme aimed at preparing students for adult and working life It emphasises forms of achievement and excellence which the established Leaving Certificate has not recognised in the past
