1 Graduating Class Profile Academic Year 4-5 Executive Summary Each summer, the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment prepares the Graduating Class Profile Report. This year s report contains information on the 4-5 academic year graduates. Basic demographics are included as well as information on how long the graduates had attended Southeastern and which institutions students transferred from. During the 4-5 academic year, Southeastern conferred a total of,4 degrees, an increase of 6 (%) degrees over the -4 academic year. Eighty-six percent (86%) of baccalaureate degree recipients were White, Non-Hispanic, while 64% where female. Some highlights of the report include: Nine percent (%) of this year s baccalaureate degree recipients who started at Southeastern as beginning freshmen were Black, Non-Hispanic, whereas % of the -4 graduating class were Black, Non-Hispanic. Thirty-one percent (%) of the graduates who started as beginning freshmen attended Southeastern for 5 years, compared to % of the -4 graduating class. Over 8% of the transfers attended for 4 years, while nearly % attended for years. The median number of years at Southeastern was six for beginning freshmen and four for transfer students. Southeastern s largest feeder school was LSU, followed by Delgado, Baton Rouge Community College, UNO and UL-Lafayette. The top feeder schools were the same for the -4 graduating class, with UNO and BRCC switching positions in rank. The undergraduate program with the most undergraduates in 4-5 was the B.A. in Management, followed by B.G.S. in General Studies, B.A. in General Business, B.S. in Nursing and B.A. in Marketing. In -4, the B.A. in Elementary Education was one of the top five undergraduate programs rather than the B.S. in Nursing. The baccalaureate majors (with at least 5 graduates) with the highest percentage of students who began as transfers were History, English Education, Nursing, Social Studies Education, and General Studies. In contrast, the majors with the lowest percentage of transfers were Spanish, Mathematics, Music, Computer Science, Political Science and Special Education. Sixty-four percent (64%) of the baccalaureate degree recipients started at Southeastern as beginning freshmen.
