2 Summer Learning Opportunities School is pleased to offer several summer learning opportunities for our students. Included in this packet are descriptions of the summer offerings and a registration form. Transportation will be provided for our onsite classes. The number of students who require transportation will determine the number of buses we run. If only a small number of students require transportation, there is the possibility that students of all ages will ride on the same bus. This will be communicated to parents if it occurs. Registration forms with the appropriate payment should be returned to your child s school. If you need additional information, please contact your child s school. Thank you, CUSD 201

3 Reading/Math Dates: Time: Description: Session 1: Monday, June 12 th through Thursday, June 29th Session 2: Monday, July 24 th through Thursday, August 10 th *Students will attend both sessions. If your child can not attend every day, please contact your school administrator with the specific dates he or she will be absent. Teachers will plan accordingly. Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM Fundamental Reading: Comprehension skills will be the focal point for this class. We will focus on development and enhancement of reading strategies, comprehension, and vocabulary development, as well as writing skills. Math: As participants in this course, students will enhance their math skills and relate its importance to real situations. Students will utilize a variety of Math skills to solve problems. Who: Tuition: Any CUSD 201 student who is in grades 6-7 during the school year and is currently in Math or Reading Intervention or are in need of extra support. 4 STEM/Enrichment Dates: Time: Description: Who: Monday August 7 th through Thursday, August 10 th Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM Some call it a robot. We call it a motivator. Based on easy-to-use robotics technology, this engaging platform provides and inspiring, curriculum based on computer science, science, technology, engineering and math. 5 Step-Up for the Class of 2018 (Incoming 6 th Grade) Dates: Time: Description: Monday August 14 th and Tuesday, August 15 th Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM Taught by WJHS teachers, this two-day, full-morning program is designed to support the transition to junior high with a primary emphasis on academic organization skills, campus familiarity, introductions to building procedures. This class will provide a jump start in a student s new life as a Westmont Junior High Panther. ROAR! Who: Any CUSD 201 student who is entering the 6 th grade during the school year.
