You may be undecided about your major, but you definitely know you want to complete a degree. Therefore, you need to have a plan to make informed decisions about your education and your career. You need to enroll in the correct courses to move you toward a timely graduation. This is why choosing a CLUSTER PATHWAY, known as a META MAJOR, is necessary. During your FIRST SEMESTER you should complete the following: *1 Determine your top three career choices and declare the appropriate Meta Major to guide your academic course selection. Investigate possible university transfer programs, if applicable. Schedule to meet with your adviser by the end of the semester to declare your official major and develop an academic plan. ^ Pre-register for your secondsemester classes. The Collegiate Academy provides aspiring high school students the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credit hours in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) focused, foundational curriculum. The Associate of Science (A.S.) degree is a specialized transfer degree designed for students who will ultimately pursue a baccalaureate degree in pursue a baccalaureate degree in science, technology, engineering, math, or health care. Taking rigorous college level courses, participating in lectures focused on a range of STEM research projects, and participating in scientific laboratories engaged in cutting edge research are all a part of this academic focus and experience. This degree requires the completion of Science, 8-16 semester hours (any science with 60 semester hours with an overall grade point a laboratory) average of 2.0 or above. Humanities, 3 semester hours (any literature, history, foreign language, philosophy) B. The 60 hours must include the following: Fine Arts, 3 semester hours (any appreciation course) English, 6 semester hours Total, 40 semester hours. (English Composition I and II) Social Science, 3 semester hours (government, geography, economics, psychology, sociology, marriage and family, anthropology, human growth and development) Math, 9-15 semester hours (MAT 1313 or higher math - MAT 1723 does not count) C. Additional 20 hours cannot include career or developmental classes. 60 total hours 40 required hours 20 elective hours ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE (A.A.S.) The Associate of Applied Science degree is designed to meet the educational needs of students who are seeking preparation for employment in occupational fields not requiring a baccalaureate degree. In Collegiate Academy, the pursuit of this pathway would result in a high school diploma and industry certification credential, rather than the full A.A.S. StudehtS^ in this option would accumulate 45 college credits - 15 academic and 30 CTE hours. After high school graduation, the student would only need 15 hours of CTE to complete the A.A.S. degree. However, the student would have an industry credential that would allow them to work immediately.
