Before anyone leaves, we want fall wrapped up. He requested having a summer communication process in place to keep the Bookstore in the loop. It usually takes 4 6 weeks to get custom materials. We don t see blind listed classes until they become a real class let us know what those are. He introduced Nancy Meyer as the Bookstore s textbook buyer. Course packets are due to printing on August 13. We now have a comparison tool for students on line that shows pricing. Jenny reminded the group that fall registration will open up the end of May. Students should be meeting with their advisors now to register for fall. A goal is to have students register for fall classes before spring term ends. Degree Partnership Program (DPP): Jerri we wanted a conversation for today that would illustrate what it would look like if AAC functioned as a leadership team for instruction. Katie s work on the Degree Partnership Program looks like a good example. Katie DPP is an example of what AAC s role could be. DPP is a big project w/osu. It s time to evaluate it, see if the marketing is working and involve more LBCC faculty. Angie is now the faculty lead for DPP. I am in charge of coordinating DPP w/osu. Facts about DPP: More detailed information will be online. Handout regarding advising students (see Attach. A). Students who meet OSU admissions requirements right out of high school can enroll in DPP. The other path to admission is to start at LBCC and then apply to DPP. Need to be here for 24 credits to apply, complete writing 121 or higher with a minimum of a C grade or better. Why you want to be in DPP: You can take classes at both schools.

3 It is cheaper at LBCC. We will market this more. What to tell students to do to apply (see Attach. A). Admissions requirement and when to apply (see Attach. A). How do students apply (see Attach. A)? Financial Aid bottom line is to pick a home school. They choose based on the classes they want to take. There s a link on OSU s website that addresses DPP. Chareane where would a financial aid student s home campus be who is approaching the maximum credits? Katie recommended they change their home campus to OSU. Chareane would they still be able to graduate from here? Katie yes. The rules for who is a state resident differ between OSU and LBCC. We are more lenient. Direct students to our website ( OSU is requiring freshman to live on campus next year if a DPP student, they can get an exception to that message. Question what about Spanish requirement? Katie 2 yrs. of foreign language is required for entry, but it is not currently enforced until graduation. Katie brought attention to #4 (support in managing relationship w/osu) and #5 (how do we better recruit students into DPP) from the Questions handout sheet (see Attach. B). If you have an outstanding relationship, we want to copy you share your thoughts. Face to face is a good way to address stereotypes. Advising piece: what would your department like to know? Would you like detailed training at your department or division level? We need to know if you have particular classes you can offer. Referencing a list of DPP contacts needing to be updated (Angie will be updating), who in your department wants to be in charge of DPP? Please write that on your question sheet. Katie as we get to know more advisors at OSU, we ll get this list out. Chareane suggested putting a message on the Hwy 34 billboard, Why to build a partnership w/osu. Jerri 60% of our students are enrolled in DPP, so even though your students may not have DPP students, this gives you a better understanding. Katie take some time now to fill out the Question piece and turn it in before you leave. Potential Change in LBCC s Administrative Rule about Approving and Hiring Faculty Beth (see Attach. C) We will be talking about this at our next meeting, so please get feedback from your departments in the next two weeks. There are numerous bills having to do with dual partnerships this year, such as Community college presidents and high school superintendents are working on partnerships. One issue is teacher qualifications for dual credit programs. Community colleges require a content Masters degree and K 12 a Master of Arts in Teaching. Oregon Administrative Rule has been changed. See bottom of handout (Attach. C) left lower side addresses current situation. At bottom..may be waived at discretion of the college president. See, What is happening on right lower side of Attach. C, specifically, at the discretion of the community college personnel policy. That means we have to rewrite our personnel policy. There will be future meetings one on May 16 of our College Now faculty and one on May 28 with our high school partners. AAC will weigh in at our next meeting. This will also be addressed at President s Staff and then by College Council. College Council will make a recommendation to our Board.

4 Guidelines given: we are being asked by the State to be better partners with K 12. We are being asked to come up with an institutional policy that will not vary between departments. This AR will become our campus hiring policy. What standards do we want to hold to? Beth brought attention back to Attach C back left side. We can keep or change wording. Transfer B: we know we will drop this. We get to decide what matters to us. We will need to look at how to assess proficiencies. We need to have a full understanding of what that means. For example, should it be measured by students reaching learning outcomes? Talk to your College Now folks. Continued Discussion around the role of AAC and Instructional Leadership: Jerri today we included 2 things that are the bigger picture kinds of things. Do these things feel like important issues to bring to this group as we think about the future? We had folks volunteer at the last meeting to discuss your proposed new role. Some were to find more volunteers. This process will continue at the next meeting. Comments: Katie I think it is great. Rod it feels like topics we should be involved in. Information sharing is important. I seriously doubt that decision can be reached by this group. Can t imagine we can come to consensus in 2 3 weeks. Jerri it seems we would be giving input. Jerri any ideas of future discussion. Chareane I am reflective and having material before meetings helps me to be fully representative of my department. I enjoyed the writing piece today w/questions. I personally like when our feedback is useful in decision making processes. Announcements: Katie Underpants play opening this week. Adj: 4:20 p.m.
