Get to know your community and roe as a student through a tour of Frankfort, discussion on Student Rights and Responsibiities, and Residence Ha meetings. THURSDAY, AUGUST 17 TH : Foat ike a Butterfy Honor the egacy of Muhammad Ai, a Kentucky native and friend to KSU. You wi spend the day in Louisvie touring the Ai Center foowed by a reaxing unch on the Ohio River. -2-

Later, be a star during an epic Lip Sync Batte, choose the hottest fa ooks during a fashion show, and party the night away during a Hawaiian uau on the yard. SUNDAY, AUGUST 20 TH : Ready, Set Go! is day wi be used to prepare for casses on Monday morning. New Student Orientation Leaders wi assist you with ogging into Backboard, checking your emai, printing cass schedues and syabi, and finding your cassrooms. -3-

6 NEW STUDENT MOVE-IN AND REGISTRATION SATURDAY, AUGUST 12, 2017, 8 AM-4:00 PM, EXUM GYMNASIUM Tips for a Smooth Move-In Process PRIOR TO ARRIVING Read and foow the registration process instructions. Make sure a of your fees (tuition and fees, housing, meas, and parking) are appied to your account. You must submit your housing appication and appication fee to have your housing fee appied to your account. You must register for courses in order to generate a bi. Log into your WIRED account to check your baance (see page 13). o If your aid exceeds the amount of your bi you wi receive a refund, you are ceared for move-in and your registration is compete. o If you have a baance you must resove any financia aid matters reating to federa grants or oans appied to your account, pay the remaining baance, or estabish a payment pan (PIO) (see page 14). o For timey processing, we suggest resoving your baance by August 1st. o Once you are ceared (have no outstanding baance or enroed in a payment pan) you can receive your ID and parking pass and you wi be aowed to check into your residence ha. Bring a copy of your cearance form/confirmation. Read the Kentucky State University Student Handbook (kysu.edu > Current Students >Student Handbook). MOVE-IN DAY Enjoy the day! We re excited to see and hep you make the transition! Arrive eary to ensure you have ampe time for a smooth check-in and getting setted. Don t forget to pack your toos, cart, 3M command strips and hooks, fashight, surge protector, and more. Review the suggested items ist to ensure you have your PERMITTED persona items to decorate, to personaize, and be comfortabe in your new home. However, you may check with representatives at each station to ensure you do not have any outstanding items that may hinder you from registering or competing registration. 14 STUDENT EXPENSES Expenses associated with attending Kentucky State University hep ensure access to the University s programs. Tuition and Fees for the academic year can be found on the tuition and fee schedue (under Tuition and Fees). FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE Kentucky State University acknowedges that many students require some form of financia assistance to support their education. KSU provides a wide range of resources through schoarships, grants, coege workstudy, and ow-interest oans. Information about financia assistance programs can be found in the Financia Aid and Schoarships section of the website. FOREIGN CURRENCY A payments must be made in U.S. doars. ONLINE COURSES Onine tuition and fees can be found in the tuition and fee schedue. A fees are subject to change without notice. A fu-time student who suppements traditiona courses (on campus or in cass ecture) with onine courses sha be charged based on the norma fu-time tuition and fee schedue and residency. A student who is registered for 12 or more hours onine excusivey wi be cassified as a fu-time student and sha be charged based on the norma tuition and fee schedue and residency TUITION AND FEE REFUND POLICY Students withdrawing from the University or dropping semester credit hours which resut in a change in the assessment of fees wi be eigibe for a refund of fees based on the dates and conditions isted here. No refund can be issued for certain fees and optiona fees as estabished by the Kentucky State University Board of Regents. e date of competion of the withdrawa or credit hour drop determines the percent of refund for which the student is eigibe. A withdrawa/drop is compete when the necessary form(s) have been competed and returned to the designated office. TIME PERIOD/REFUNDS For purposes of cacuating refunds, "weeks" are counted as seven-day periods beginning with the first day of casses for the semester. Refunds wi be issued on canceed casses and eary withdrawas in accordance with the university refund poicy. Refunds issued from Tite IV funds wi be issued within fourteen days from the date funds are appied to the student s account resuting in a credit baance. Funds are usuay appied a er the 12th day of casses. Questions concerning refunds shoud be directed to the Bursar s Office (ASB, Suite 349).

15 Students who receive Tite IV funds such as the Federa Pe Grant, Federa Suppementa Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federa Perkins Loan, Federa Direct or PLUS oans and withdraws from the University are subject to the Return of Tite IV Funds reguations. Students with funds from any of these programs earn their financia aid doars whie enroed. If a student withdraws prior to competing 60% of a term (Fa Semester on or a er October 30 and Spring Semester on or a er March 25), a prorated portion of his/her federa financia aid doars must be considered unearned and returned to the federa programs. Unearned financia aid doars returned to the federa programs may resut in students owing the University a significant amount upon withdrawa. Faiure to return aid due back to the federa programs wi resut in oss of eigibiity for federa financia aid assistance. ACCOUNT ACCESS To access your account during pre-registration: Students who receive State or University tuition assistance or pay in fu by cash or check, a er schedues are entered into the Student Information System, may obtain an account summary from the Cashier (ocated in the 3rd foor obby, Academic Services Buiding). e account summary wi be avaiabe via the Web the foowing business day. To access your account during reguar registration and ate registration: Account summaries wi be posted onine the day a er schedues are entered into the Student Information System. TO REVIEW YOUR ACCOUNT SUMMARY A. Residency. Questions regarding status as an in-state or out-of-state student shoud be directed to the Office of Admissions (ASB 312). B. Financia Aid. Questions about Financia Aid credit appearing on the student s bi (Account Summary) shoud be directed to the Office of Financia Aid (ASB 349). c. Room and Board. Charges for on-campus housing and mea pans wi be refected on the student s bi (Account Summary). If appicabe room and board charges do not appear on account summary, contact the Office of Residence Life (ASB 317). Payment Information. To expedite payment and prevent any possibe deays, pease have avaiabe any documents reated to the foowing areas (if appicabe): 1. Registration (cass schedue, add/drops). 2. Housing/Meas. 3.
