Our students perform in some of the city s top venues, including the Usher Hall, Queens Hall, Voodoo Rooms, Festival Theatre, Liquid Rooms, St Andrew s Church and St George s West Church. Students studying at our Sighthill campus have an opportunity to join a range of exciting ensembles, including choirs, traditional music band, big band and concert band, together with many smaller groups. Students also benefit from sound production facilities comparable to top UK recording studios. Across our two campuses at Milton Road and Sighthill, we have two auditoria equipped with PAs and full lighting rigs, 11 recording spaces, 4 digital audio suites all with industry standard Digital Audio Workstations including Pro Tools and Logic, 30 rehearsal spaces and extensive specialist teaching space. PARTNERS Many former students are members of successful bands including No Quarter, Dalriata, Ded Rabbit, LaKyoto. WALTER ALDAZ During Walter s time at college he was given the job of co-ordinating the production of videos for up and coming bands for the Scottish Alternative Awards, produced in the college s CRE-8 studios. This became part of his final second year project at college. After graduating he went onto a Management Degree at University of West London, gaining a 2:1. He then gained employment with Sony before moving on to Spilt Milk Management Limited. I am so very grateful that I have been able to lead my own classes with the warm and creative spirit I have taken from my experience in your class. STEWART KELLY FORMER BMUS STUDENT I would strongly recommend that anyone looking for a career in the music industry, including musicians themselves, should do this course. A fully comprehensive course delivered by knowledgeable, industry experienced and supportive tutors in a friendly environment. VAL HND MUSIC BUSINESS STUDENT 2016/17 I ve moved down to London and I m working within music royalties with The Royalty Company. Without you I wouldn t be here doing what I love. SARAH HENDERSON FORMER MUSIC BUSINESS STUDENT
3 SPOTLIGHT RUAIRIDH SAUNDERS // BA POPULAR MUSIC STUDENT LAURA BROWN Laura graduated from Edinburgh College with a Bachelor of Arts in Performance before successfully building her own music tuition business, LA Vocal Tuition, based in Armadale, West Lothian. Laura, who graduated in 2016, credits the support and enthusiasm of her tutors for giving her the knowledge and drive to develop her dream business and explore her passion for music teaching, as well as strengthening her entrepreneurial skills. From the comfort of her own homebased music studio cabin, Laura is able to teach students on a basis using skills learned throughout her 4 years at college. LA Vocal Tuition also offers vocal recording sessions and singing birthday parties. Ruairidh came to Edinburgh College to sit his Highers after having had a difficult time at school. He studied here for five years, eventually completing his education with a first class honours degree in Popular. Ruairidh says that the varied opportunities he had at college not just the tuition he had on his instrument but also the chance to perform with a wide variety of musicians were the perfect launching pad for his current career travelling the world as a musician on cruise ships. Ruairidh said Studying at Edinburgh College gave me the confidence and the courage to be ambitious with my musical goals and I am forever grateful to the staff for their knowledge and guidance. I would highly recommend studying music at The Box - it just rocks your socks! LAURA BROWN MUSIC STUDENT 2015/2016
