5 Core programs of the Education Longitudinal Linkage Platform (ELLP) The Postsecondary Student Information System (PSIS) is a data holding of all public college and university enrolments and graduates by program / credential type and field of study for each school year. The Registered Apprenticeship Information System (RAIS) is an administrative database of pan-canadian, annual data on registered apprentices and trade qualifiers. It compiles data on registered apprentices receiving training and on persons that obtain certification in trades where apprenticeship training is offered. 5 Statistics Canada Statistique Canada

6 Education Longitudinal Linkage Platform (ELLP) ELLP consists of a repository of linkage keys for PSIS and the Registered Apprenticeship Information System (RAIS) Using the linkage keys, longitudinal linked files can be created for analysis. These administrative linked files can then be linked with other data sources (admin or survey) to increase analysis potential. ELLP is NOT a linked file 6 Statistics Canada Statistique Canada

10 ELLP: On-going and future projects British Columbia extended project - focus on graduates with multiple credentials The Maritimes Canadian Student Loan Program (CSLP) files are being linked to the Maritime project to expand the analytical potential with loan information The rest of Canada CSLP file will be sent to Statistics Canada later in spring 2018 By end of March 2018, graduate outcome projects to be completed for all remaining provinces and territories 10

11 Outputs from the ELLP A set of education indicators to be produced annually Fact sheets and/or elaboration of special projects to answer research questions such as studying mature students, first-credential/first labour market entry students, international students, self-employed graduates, graduates with multiple credentials, bias introduced by late tax filers, etc. Microdata available to researchers in the RDCs Data for the maritime provinces will be available in Fall 2017 Access is granted once approval is obtained ( 11 Statistics Canada Statistique Canada

21 Moving forward Add remaining institutions to the student platform Analyze data at pan-canadian level, and eventually, provide institutions with statistics on itself Complement the platform with other student and apprentice data files (e.g. Canada student loan, apprenticeship loans, National Graduate Survey or National Apprenticeship Survey) Complete the work to make linked files accessible to researchers Update and grow the linkable possibilities! 21 Statistics Canada Statistique Canada
