5 The Govt Maharani Laxmi Bai Girls P.G. College (New GDC) is one of the prominent colleges in Indore situated in the kila bhavan which has a historical origin as the fort in the Holkar state constructed in year The college was established within the fort in year 1965 (shifted from a nearby school where it was running since 1963). The college occupies an area of 13 acres approx. with a builtup area of more than 50,000 sq. feet. The college began with a modest strength of 28 student and now the student strength is 3000 students(three thousand approx) as on 31 august 2013 with the faculty like Arts, science, fine arts, home science, BBA, commerce, computer science & Application and library science.

The Computer department offers Computer Science and Computer Application programs.

6 omputer Department Departmental Introduction Computer Science Department was established in 2002 in this college. The new Computer Lab (Azad Bhawan) was constructed in college by UGC and Jila Yojna Samiti inaugurated on 24 th Sep The Computer department offers Computer Science and Computer Application programs. We teach both computer science and Application so that students can develop the skills they need to pursue their careers and interests. Our interdisciplinary approach allows for students from all backgrounds and fields to find our courses both fun and practical. We can accommodate all levels so no prior background is required.

19 ACHIEVEMENTS A WORKSHOP WAS ORGANIZED ON FUTURE IN MULTIMEDIA & WEB PAGE DESIGNING BY SPEAKER VINAY KUMAR DIRECTOR OF FUTURE MULTIMEDIA INSTITUTE, INDORE ON 16 OCT2012. Computer training workshop was organized from to for college staff to familiarize them with basic working on computer and using internet for getting information on different topics. We have established UGC XI PLAN NETWORK RESOURCE- CENTER in year 2010.
