3 POINTS OF PRIDE Lennard Collegiate is the largest of the 3 Academies: Leto and Armwood We are the only Collegiate Academy who has students attending an HCC campus within walking distance. Lennard High is Magnet School of Distinction The school year is our first graduating class of AA degrees. Out of 48 Collegiate ranked students, 35 are receiving an AA degree. Collegiate Longhorns have been accepted into: University of Florida Honors Program, Naval Academy, West Point-United States Military Academy, University of South Florida, University of Central Florida, Florida State University, Miami University, to name a few.

4 REQUIREMENTS TO STAY IN THE ACADEMY Students must maintain a 3.0 UNWEIGHTED high school GPA & maintain a 2.0 HCC GPA in dual enrollment courses by the end of each school year. Have college readiness scores on the PERT, the SAT or ACT by the end of Sophomore Year: PERT scores: Reading: 106 Writing: 103 Math: 114 (123) SAT- 24 Verbal 24 Math (27) ACT- 19 Reading 17 English 17 Math (21) Students must earn a 114 MATH score on the PERT by the end of their SOPHOMORE year to remain in the program. ALL college readiness scores must be achieved and documented by June 30, 2017 in order to stay in the academy. Failure to meet the requirements will result in a removal from the program and students must return to their neighborhood school for the following school year.

5 ACADEMY CHANGES For the school year Freshman and Sophomore students will remain on campus for Collegiate classes. This change has occurred for safety and testing purposes. Juniors and Seniors will leave campus and take classes across the street at HCC. All upperclassmen will have the option to take a research period second semester to help balance out their schedule. Research periods do earn a grade but do not come with honors points. The idea is to use this period for research/homework to lessen the load after school. Over the summer, collegiate students will have the option to come to guidance to preview their schedule with a guidance counselor and discuss courses and possible changes.

6 SCHEDULES AND OPTIONS Students will take 9-10 HCC credit hours PER semester Freshmen and Sophomore students will take all HCC courses at Lennard. Junior and Senior students will take ALL HCC courses at HCC/South Shore. Students may take up to 10 credit hours during the summer at HCC Students may not be eligible for the AA Degree if one required core course is failed with a D or an F. Students are allowed to retake ONE course, where a D or an F was earned. ( Refer to AA Degree Requirements)

7 MAGNET RANKING VS TRADITIONAL RANKING Since the Collegiate Academy is considered a Magnet Program- LHS has two Valedictorians and two Salutatorians. Therefore, students in Magnet Programs are ranked separately from students in the Traditional Program in the same school. Students enrolled in the Magnet Programs who leave their program after the first semester of their sophomore year, are ranked with their prior Magnet Program. (HCPS Policy 5430/5451) At the end of the FIRST semester of the SENIOR year the final rank in class shall be determined for each senior student. A student must be enrolled by the final day of the first semester of his/her senior year in order to be ranked. The CUMULATIVE weighted district GPA is used to determine rank in class. All high school courses attempted, including those from Hillsborough/Florida Virtual School, those earned prior to 9 th grade and dual enrollment are included in the GPA calculation.

8 MAGNET RANKING VS TRADITIONAL RANKING Rank is frozen on a designated day in Quarter 3. To include credits earned outside of HCPS, transcripts must be dated on or before the final day of the first semester to be used in class rank calculations. Students electing to graduate with the 18 credit ACCEL option or the 24 credit program in 3 years or less are promoted to Grade 12 in May of their graduating year and hand ranked. Therefore, they are not eligible for consideration as valedictorian, salutatorian, Talented 20 and Tribune Honors.

9 ELIGIBILITY FOR BRIGHT FUTURES AND SCHOLARSHIPS Senior Year is when students can apply for the Bright Future Scholarships. Prior to entering 9 th grade students can begin their community service hours. All community services hours are due for Seniors by graduation day! Standardize Assessments ( SAT & ACT) are recommended to be taken during Junior year, due to specific math skills. Florida Academic Scholars ( University or College) SAT: 1290 or ACT: 29, 100 community Service Hours, $103 per credit hour Florida Medallion Scholars ( University or College) SAT: 1170 or ACT: 26, $77 per credit hour Florida Gold Seal Vocational ( Tech College) SAT: Math 440, Reading 440 ACT: English 17, Reading 19 Math 19 Or PERT: Reading 106, Writing 103, Math 114
