3 OeAD The OeAD is the Austrian agency for international mobility and cooperation in education, science and research. education science research worldwide 3
4 The OeAD stands for Educational Mobility European & International Cooperation Lifelong Learning Service & Information Grants & Scholarships Networks & Projects Our core business is the exchange of people of all ages and educational levels. We support institutional cooperations in Europe and worldwide. We accompany international activities and coordinate and support their implementation. A special focus is for example on development cooperation and on education export. 4
5 OeAD Tasks The OeAD is in charge of international exchange of pupils, apprentices, students, lecturers and researchers and carries out international educational projects. Our tasks:... we support the internationalisation of Austrian pupils, apprentices, students, teachers and researchers. we offer service for more than 12,000 pupils, apprentices, students, teachers and researchers per year. we advise and counsel concerning all issues of educational mobility independently and non profit-oriented. we support and cross-link education, science and research with a budget of approx. 46 million euros per year and 150 members of staff. we inform with our websites and our grants database grants.at (more than 28,000 accesses per month). 5
6 OeAD Centre for International Cooperation & Mobility (ICM) Specialised department within the OeAD, which is in charge of all international cooperation and mobility programmes. Main tasks: Administration of the grant and scholarship programmes of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF) (incoming & outgoing) Administration of the EU third countries sector, administration of scholarships financed by third-party funds Administration of the technology grants of the networks ASEA Uninet and Eurasia-Pacific Uninet and participation Development Cooperation: Concentration of all development cooperationrelated activities in the field of Education and Research for Development Cooperation Systematic expansion of international cooperation activities in education and research International marekting and coordinating implementation of Austrian study options abroad Programme organisation of the Sparkling Science project 6
7 OeAD Housing Office The OeAD Housing Office (OeAD- WohnraumverwaltungsGmbH) is a 100% subsidiary of the OeAD. The OeAD Housing Office provides accommodation in student halls of residence for OeAD grant holders, Erasmus students, visiting lecturers and guests. In Vienna alone the OeAD Housing Office has more than 2,000 places in student halls of residence and flats at its disposal. These places are available all year round; during the summer months (July-September) there are free capacities for summer courses, conferences and various events. 7
8 OeAD - University Preparation Programmes The University Preparation Programmes prepare international students for supplementary examinations prescribed by the universities. The OeAD is the legal entity for the University Preparation Programmes of the universities in Vienna Graz and Leoben. 8
9 OeAD - Regional Offices The OeAD-GmbH has regional OeAD offices in Graz, Innsbruck, Klagenfurt, Leoben, Linz, Salzburg and Vienna. Service for scholarship holders of the federal ministries and other financing bodies (disbursement of scholarships, taking out of a health and accident insurance on behalf of the scholarship holders, guidance and help in dealing with the authorities, e.g. residence title, organisation of a leisure programme, etc.) General information and guidance for international students and academics OeAD Regional Offices 9

11 Network: Eurasia-Pacific Uninet Eurasia-Pacific Uninet is a network which aims at establishing contacts and scientific partnerships between Austrian universities, universities of applied sciences, other research institutions and member institutions in East Asia, South Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific region. With its member institutions, the network promotes multilateral scientific cooperation, joint research project, conferences, faculty and student exchange. Eurasia-Pacific Uninet supports the concept of Austrian higher education policy with its focus on excellence. 11

University Colleges of Teacher Education Train teachers for compulsory schools (primary schools, secondary modern schools, polytechnical schools and special needs schools) Education lasts 6 semesters; concludes with a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree and the corresponding teaching qualification Education is internationally recognised and you can teach in other European countries, too Following the bachelor programme you can study a master programme at a university or university of applied sciences 19
