I would like draw your attention to the distinctive nature of our courses in which has emphasis on the medical sciences that underpin medical training. Our aim is to produce doctors who have a scientific approach and an ability to relate sympathetically to patients and their families or friends. Whether you choose the four-year course for experimental Science graduates, or the standard MBBS course, we aim to provide you with a sound basis for lifelong learning by encouraging critical thinking and scientific enquiry. We provide an environment in which bioscience and clinical research are actively pursued at the highest level thus helping students develop their interest in academic or medical science. We are committed to selecting medical students solely on the basis of their aptitude for and medical sciences, irrespective of their ethnic or social origin, religion or sex. If you are interested in the medical sciences, care for patients and their families and wish to study, I hope that you will seriously consider coming to Jiangxi University. 4 4 JIANGXI UNIVERSITY OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE JIANGXI UNIVERSITY OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE School of (Brief Introduction) Jiangxi University of Traditional (JXUTCM) trains physicians, surgeons, nurses, biomedical researchers, physical therapists, illustrators and many other health care professionals in its institutes of Preventive, Health Sciences, Graduate Studies, Nursing and Center for Behavioral Neuroscience. JXUTCM has 7 affiliated and 8 teaching hospitals. MBBS (Bachelor of, Bachelor of Surgery) and various other undergraduate programs are taught in English. JXUTCM MBBS is a six-year undergraduate degree. It is an interdisciplinary course, combining biomedical sciences and clinical skills training. The medical curriculum provides an interdisciplinary program, organized to provide integration of structure and function within the biomedical sciences. It presents a continually expanding level of medical experience, starting in the first semester of the course. In the first year, the basic medical sciences are taught in the context of their relevance to patient care. Later in the course, clinical teaching builds upon and reinforces this strong scientific foundation. The MBBS 6-year programme in is designed to equip you with a fundamental knowledge and understanding of medicine, and to develop the skills and attitudes you need in order to apply that knowledge in practice. It is essential for doctors to be able to relate well to their patients and demonstrate empathy and respect for them. The programme therefore places considerable emphasis on developing your expertise in a whole range of practical areas, including clinical, communication, observation, and teamwork and management skills. These must include Chemistry AND Biology AND/OR Mathematics AND/OR Physics Age (16-24) WHILE SELECTING CANDIDATES, WE LOOK FOR Personal characteristics: suitability to Empathy: ability and willingness to imagine the feelings of others and understand the reasons for the views of others Motivation: a reasonably well-informed and strong desire to practice Communication: ability to make knowledge and ideas clear using language appropriate to the audience Honesty and integrity Ethical awareness Other: ability to work with others, capacity for sustained and intense work Academic Potential Problem-solving: critical thinking, analytical approach Intellectual curiosity: keenness to understand the reason for observations; depth; tendency to look for meaning; enthusiasm and curiosity in science Communication skills: willingness and ability to express clearly and effectively; ability to listen; compatibility with tutorial format Fitness to practice This is a matter in which health and conduct, and not simply academic standing are relevant.
