1 STUDENT APPLICATION FORM ENTRY UWC has 17 Schools and Colleges across five continents. These schools, colleges and programs deliver a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future. Although strong academic achievement is valued highly at UWC, academic achievements are put into perspective with a mixture of community contributions, physical activities, international affairs and creative pursuits. While UWC is a wonderful transformational experience it is also a very rigorous program. It will challenge students in all ways - socially, emotionally, physically and academically. We encourage applicants and parents/guardians to find out as much as possible about UWC before going ahead with your application. It is important that you understand the aims of the movement, the commitment involved in the program, including financially and what exactly the offer entails. For more information go to Belizean UWC Openings for 2018 Each year a national committee will receive from the UWC schools and colleges a limited number of places (which may include a scholarship, bursary/partial scholarship or fee-paying place) for which they select students to study the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. All 17 UWC schools and colleges provide life-changing experiences and are equally regarded. There are limited partial and fully funded scholarships based on availability from the schools. All scholarships reflect financial aid to offset the cost of tuition and will be awarded based on various criteria including demonstrated financial need. Costs of air travel, visas and personal expenses between school and home countries are the responsibility of the student s family. Full scholarships cover the entire costs of tuition. The scholarship does not cover the cost of travel, pocket money, visas or costs associated with application to further studies. Partial scholarships are awarded only if, upon selection, students demonstrate ability to pay the balance of the fees. Place only are awarded only if, upon selection, students demonstrate ability to pay the indicated tuition and fees.

2 Successful candidates are nominated to a specific UWC college campus. The schools and colleges generally accept the nominated candidates on the recommendation of the national committee but reserve the right to make the final decision on every candidate. An application is made to the UWC movement and not to a particular college campus. Successful applicants will be asked to rank their preference of college campus. However, the national committee will ultimately determine the campus to which students are nominated based on factors including financial need/ability and availability of spaces. All shortlisted applicants and their families will be asked to fill in a financial assessment form. This form will support the placement of candidates based on financial need and ability to pay after the interviews are complete. All candidates will be notified by of the outcome of their application. All national committee candidates apply generally to UWC s two year, pre-university International Baccalaureate Diploma program. The selection process for Belize includes your application, essay question, group activity and individual interview. All UWC selection committees look for open-minded applicants who will thrive in an intensive, multicultural environment. They also search for academic potential; a commitment to community service; any grand passion such as music, drama, or sport; and enthusiasm for UWC s mission and ideals. Places in UWC are offered on a competitive basis. The application is carefully reviewed by our selection committee. The student(s) nominated by the UWC Belize Selection Committee are recommendations to the Head of the UWC College. If the Head of the UWC College approves the nominated applicant, a written letter of acceptance will be sent via .
