41 Background Clearance: Criminal Background Clearance and Urine Drug Screen: All students must have completed a criminal background clearance/urine drug test and 57 have proof of clearance prior to entering any nursing course with a clinical component. This includes local hospitals and health care agencies, including the county, community and private facilities. Students who cannot present a clear background check will not be permitted to enter the nursing program. Students who test positive on a drug screen will not be able to continue in the nursing program UNLESS a physician writes a note stating that prescription medications are causing the positive drug screen. Plan ahead to address any potential items that may appear on your background check. Student Handbook
