6 PAGE 6 of 8 PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Assistant Professor in Residence & First and Second-Year Seminar Coordinator Department of Educational Psychology and Higher Education July 2014 Present Oversee all First-Year Seminar (CoE 102) and Second-Year Seminar (CoE 202) courses (FYS/SYS) and all related activities Teach FYS and SYS and oversee all aspects of the courses Resolve FYS/SYS student complaints/issues Lead group of 10 FYS/SYS instructors teaching approximately 15 sections a semester Interview and hire instructors (e.g., GA's, PTI's) Communicate closely with CoE Department Chairs to bring in doctoral students to instruct FYS/SYS sections Provide initial and ongoing training of FYS/SYS instructors through pre-semester 1-on-1 meetings and semester bi-weekly 1-on-1 and group meetings as needed Conduct and chair regular instructional team meetings (i.e., pre-semester, mid-semester, and end-ofsemester FYS/SYS instructor meetings) Work closely with campus support staff to provide presentations and instructional support for FYS/SYS instructors (e.g., UNLV librarians, Women's Center, etc.) Coordinate course evaluations of FYS/SYS with the Center for Research, Evaluation, and Assessment Conduct classroom observations of FYS/SYS to help guide and develop instructors Evaluate and terminate (when necessary) FYS/SYS instructors Work closely with campus and community partners to provide service learning options for FYS/SYS (e.g., The Boys and Girls Club, Office of Civic Engagement and Diversity) Coordinate FYS/SYS service learning liability waivers with the Office of Civic Engagement and Diversity Order desk copies for new FYS/SYS instructors Create and maintain online FYS/SYS instructor resources (e.g., resources on shared dropbox) Communicate with the UNLV bookstore to ensure the correct amount of books are ordered each semester and stocked for semester and mid-semester sections Collect data and assess CoE FYS/SYS sections Create and establish policies for the CoE FYS/SYS Supervise two teaching Graduate Assistants, each teaching a 2/2 load of FYS/SYS Attend FYS university-wide Coordinator meetings throughout the year (e.g., First-Year Seminar Assessment Meeting) Attend SYS university-wide Coordinator meetings throughout the year (e.g., General Education Assessment Summit) Attend the First-Year Seminar Annual Conference Lead discussions and disseminate current research and best practices to FYS/SYS instructors Present FYS/SYS best practices and research at UNLV conferences and symposiums Distribute mid-semester grades as well as early warning notices Work and build a positive relationship with the office of the Assistant Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education Keep the Department Chair and Executive Associate Dean appraised of critical student and/or instructor performance issues Work with the CoE Dean s office and EPHE Department to provide schedules, cancel classes with low enrollments, and other issues as they arise

7 PAGE 7 of 8 Work with the CoE Dean s office, EPHE Department, and Graduate College on instructor contracts Promote innovative teaching practices in FYS/SYS (e.g., working closely with Dr. Joshua Baker and project F.O.C.U.S. (Forming Occupational and Community Understanding for Success) to allow students with intellectual disabilities to attend UNLV and participate in the First-Year Seminars) Holmes Program Coordinator July 2015 Present Oversee 3 doctoral students, 3 undergraduate students, and 3 high school students and all related activities of the Holmes Program Work with the Dean s office to coordinate student travel, conference registration, and housing to up to three Holmes national conferences per year Attend national Holmes conferences in my Coordinator role Meet with other Holmes coordinators and directors Mentor new Holmes program coordinators nationally Lead pre-semester Holmes meetings and chair monthly Holmes meetings with students and UNLV faculty and staff Participate in Holmes conference calls every two months to share best practices with other coordinators across the country and plan upcoming conferences Ensure our Holmes program complies with national guidelines for Holmes member institutions Work with the COE Dean s office and the Departments of Teaching and Learning and Education and Clinical Studies to guide Holmes student selection Create and institute policies that include program funding, length of student terms in the program, eligibility for new scholars, and community engagement Develop expectations for Holmes students that include attending monthly Holmes meetings, planning and engaging in community outreach events, promoting social justice through research and advocacy, and serving as a mentor for other Holmes students Plan and execute Holmes outreach activities each semester Lead summer planning meetings with other UNLV faculty and staff to achieve program outreach goals Develop and carry out a program expansion plan to include doctoral, high school, undergraduate, and masters students by Fall 2017 August 2012 July 2014 Lead Graduate Assistant, First and Second-Year Seminars Teach COE 102 and 202 Seminar Classes and assist in administration Graduate Assistant, Department of Educational Leadership August 2010 May 2012 Teach courses with department faculty and analyze research data Tulane University Area Director, Josephine Louise, Warren, and Butler Residence Halls July 2008 July 2010 Lived-in, supervised, coordinated, and maintained a residential community of approximately 600 undergraduate students, 1 professional hall director, and 22 Resident Assistant staff
