3 A Powerful and Affordable DEGREE Financial Aid Opportunities As part of its commitment to helping students achieve their academic goals and ultimate dream of impacting lives in the pharmacy profession, PBA awards more than $70,000 in scholarship money to qualified candidates in each incoming class. These scholarships are intended to recognize the effort that goes into achieving excellence as an undergraduate student and may be awarded to recipients for up to the first three years of the program. Additionally, there are more than two dozen scholarships available to you as a Pharm.D. student at PBA. These scholarships are given annually to students who achieve scholastic recognition, strive for professional involvement, and display the leadership qualities necessary to excel in the dynamic profession that you have chosen. Florida Bright Futures Scholarships may be applied to your tuition as well, based on remaining credit hours available. There are also numerous loan assistance programs available through PBA s Financial Aid Office. Students who wish to apply for aid can do so through this office at www. pba.edu/financial-aid-scholarships. Mission Trips Servant leadership is one of the driving forces behind the Gregory School of Pharmacy s very existence. Students are encouraged to follow Christ s example of serving, teaching, and healing those in need. One of the ways in which this commitment is demonstrated is through the medical mission trip program. GSOP sponsors several trips each summer, and student involvement is critical to each trip s ultimate success. These mission teams have treated countless patients around the world, including the Amazon, Belize, Bolivia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Honduras, Taiwan, Uganda, and Zambia. Our faculty and students also have initiated outreach programs within the local community that include numerous health screenings, distribution of educational resources to underserved areas within Palm Beach County, and the planning of activities for children to educate and raise awareness of key issues impacting their ability to make smart decisions in life. These initiatives are essential in demonstrating our commitment and love for those whom our students will ultimately serve upon graduation. 2The Gregory School of Pharmacy offers TWO graduate degree programs: b Pharm.D. b Pharm.D./MBA Employment Graduates are well prepared and excel in a variety of professional settings including hospital pharmacy (institutional), community/ retail, and residency practice. During the four years, students are exposed to the multiple career opportunities available to the Pharm.D. graduate of tomorrow. 4 The Admissions Process Step 1: Make sure you have a plan in place to complete the required courses by May of the year you are seeking admission. DANIEL TRAN PHARM.D. CLASS OF 2014 I didn t realize how much the classes were preparing me for the real world. Classes like CPK, patient care, and self-care came in handy while working in the retail setting. In addition, the alumni culture at GSOP was so helpful in landing me a job back in my home state of Texas after graduation. Step 2: Complete your Pharmacy College Application Service (PharmCAS) application at pharmcas.org by March 1 in the year you wish to seek admission. PharmCAS Step 3: Send official transcripts (including updates as you complete classes), PCAT scores (code 104), and three letters of recommendation directly to PharmCAS. You may begin the PharmCAS application before assembling these documents. PBA Step 4: Complete Palm Beach Atlantic s supplemental application online at pba.edu/apply-online by selecting Doctor of Pharmacy from the dropdown menu. Applications are reviewed only after all information outlined in Steps 1 4 is received. Applicants who take pre-pharmacy courses at PBA may be eligible for the guaranteed interview program. Economics 3 We recommend micro- or macroeconomics. The School of Pharmacy limits enrollment to approximately 75 students each academic year. Course grades must be a C- and above to count toward a requirement. The preferred minimum requirement for both the cumulative and the math/science GPA is All science courses, except biochemistry, must include labs.
