3 About Industry: 3 Development communication is about disseminating information for bringing social change and community development. While philanthropy is deep-rooted in India s culture and tradition, the government has now made it mandatory for companies to allocate 2 per cent of its profit as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) under Companies Act, The sector requires fresh and experienced talents from various fields to ensure its growth. The time is right to consider a career prospectus in development sector.

4 About Course: 4 Post graduate diploma. 8 months duration including two months of internship from July to March. Weekend classes on Saturday and Sunday (4 hours each day). Total learning hours- 60 hours of classroom learning, 60 hours of project. Four learning modules. Evaluation based on assignments and research based projects. Training by industry professionals, business experts and academics.

6 Faculties: 6 Ms. Bhavisha Sanadhya- (Executive Director at Gunvati K Kapoor Foundation) Mr. Chandrashekhar Jha- (Manager Communication CSR at JSW Steel Ltd) Ms. Gazala Shaikh- (Sr. Manager, CSR HDFC Standard Life Insurance) Ms. Abhilasha Rawat- (Consultant Counsellor International Justice Mission) Along with the four core visiting faculties, a number of guest lecturers will also be part of the teaching program.

8 What students learn at the end of the course? 8 At the end of the course students will understand how development projects are designed, implemented and managed. They will acquire in-depth knowledge and skills of marketing, communication and fund-raising in the development sector.

9 Opportunities for students in industry: 9 The program is designed with the objective of strong employability focus. The program will help you to build network with various development agencies and experts. The guidance cell at the College will also help you to identify various opportunities available at different levels.

10 Admission process: 10 Filling the application form (online/ offline). Short-listing of candidates. Written test/ Group discussion/ Personal interview. Selection of candidates. Payment of fees (online/dd).

11 Eligibility criteria: 11 Graduation from any recognized university of India or abroad. Students in the final year and awaiting their results can also apply.

12 Placement: 12 SIMSR through its extensive industry linkages helps students in their quest for placements. In the past companies like ZEE, Network 18, CNN-IBN, TV Today group amongst others have participated in our placement process.

13 Internship: 13 Students have to do undertake two months internship as part of the program with one of the following development agencies: Umang Charitable Trust (Working with children with autistic disorders and slow learners) Gunvanti J Kapoor Medical Relief Charitable Foundation (The Trust focuses on areas such as cancer, nutrition, women s right and education) SPARSH (Work in the field of education, pre-schooling in urban Mumbai slums) St. Jude India Child Care Centre (Provides residential care to cancer affected children who are from outside Mumbai)

14 Fee structure of the course: 14 40,000 plus service tax. Part payment facility available.
