2 Summer schools are quite popular in the Western world especially in Europe. Since Europe is a society that promotes independent living, children are expected to assume responsibilities for their own life from the age of eighteen years. Parents support to an extent for the first few years of sophomore and the rest is taken care by the children themselves. The interesting statistics is that children in many countries in European Union within the age group of are permitted to work; what they call it as Light Work. Most of the children work to earn their own pocket money and work as paper delivery boys, in grocery stores and etc., In the Indian context, the life skills are quite different from that of the counterparts in Europe. The Indian children are quite well taken care by the parents even up to some stage of getting a job or married. However, in the current scenario the wards are not really given proper exposure to The World of Things as Internet applications occupy most of their time apart from school work. Affluent parents never worry to put their children and expose them to real life situations and fail to provide them an opportunity to learn from the field.

3 With this background Foundation for Research, Education and Development (FRED) has designed a one week program based on Summer School concept. The students who enroll for this program are given one week exposure to various topics on life skills in Mysore and in the second week, they are taken to Singapore for an exposure of different cultural, language and scientific setting. Singapore is known for its science and technology parks and as well as training for children of the proposed age group. The Summer School is designed to encourage the children to be self responsible for their own lives and also promote an entrepreneurial mind set. In case, the child is coming from a family business the course will help them on how to take over the father s reins in the business. The program is exclusive. The entire program will admit only 36 participants, per batch, in order to provide personal attention to the children to take them through an experiential learning. The program is designed with the following objectives in mind: Develop a focus on self and the field to excel Learning to accept, appreciate and rejoice the human relationships Develop interest and skills in business as early birds for the industry Expose them to the recent and possible future developments in Science and Technology. 4 Summer School Singapore (SSS) Summer School - Singapore (SSS), is designed for Indian high school students who are studying from the 8th grade upto the 11th grade (PUC first year). SSS is specially designed for the students to develop themselves as individuals with more self-awareness and focused mindset for the future studies or career path in the fields of Science, Technology and Business. The Summer School is organized during the summer vacation for 9 days where 6 days are spent in Singapore. This program is collaboratively executed with the world s popular Singapore Science Center (SSC). While SSC showcases the developments in science and builds insight into technologies and scientific developments that will transform our future. FRED will help participants to know their personality, interest and vocational choices, and also help participants to develop business Acumen, Innovation Attitude and Ability. In the program, the students will be involved in hands-on workshops like: Performing Genetic Modification of DNA (Genetic Engineering) Learning 3D Modeling Software and 3D Printing Techniques Analyzing Chemistry of Coffee Experiencing Augmented Reality Technology by Microsoft Converting the Ideas to product to business plans Innovation the growth driver of the future Attending Lectures by eminent Professors and Scientists

5 The whole program is interwoven with Science, Technology and Business through the Interdisciplinary approach to problem solving in Science & Technology and creating a business opportunity. Participants will gain understanding to potential areas of academic specializations, research topics which would further enhance their educational experience. So, watch the Science come alive in the form of workshops, demonstrations, and Lectures & Handson activities to bring out the Scientist within every student. The SSS provides the students with the right motivation and inspiration to explore science. The program also offers networking opportunities to engage with University Professors, Researchers and Industry Experts to help students make an informed decision regarding their undergraduate prospects. 6 Program Details: Who will benefit from the program? There are three winners/ beneficiaries of the program : The participant him/herself as this program keeps them ahead of others with awakened knowledge and understanding of the future of Science & Technology along with the focused business acumen The Parents of the participants: The Parents watch their wards unparallel thinking and focus on the future will distinguish from others and feel proud and witness the success of their children. The participating school will have an edge over others to have those children who bring several laurels while not only studying but as alumni of the school as they shine in the future. Dates: April 15 - April 24, 2018 April : Orientation, Personality assessment, Idea generation, Creativity training & other Life / soft skills training April 18 : Departure to Singapore & arrival at Singapore, morning April 19. April 24 : Return To Mysore Coverage: Genetic Engineering, Virtual Reality and visit to Google Center, Surgical Simulation Workshop, 3D-Printing Technology and Driverless Cars and its technology, lectures by eminent professors at the National Science Center, Singapore Visit to National University of Singapore (NUS) One day city tour and fun-filled activities at Universal Studios.

7 Fee & Payment dates: The fee for the program is Rs.96000/- (Ninety Six Thousand Only). The fee has to be paid on or before February 15, 2018, along with the duly filled application by the participant. Students who want to enroll later than this date may have to pay extra on whatever the flight charges that is different from the proposed cost. Parents also can pay 50% of the fee at the time of registration and pay later but before March 5, Participants will be considered to participate in the program only after paying full payment. The fee includes tuition fee, transportation from end to end (Mysore and back to Mysore) flight tickets, all meals in Singapore, four beds (quads) dormitory accommodation in any hostel / university campus, travel insurance and entry to Universal Studio. The payment may be made either by Cheque / DD or NEFT / RTGS. Therefore the acceptance of the program is only based on first come first serve basis only. The parents must undertake the policies on medical, picture, field trips, transportation and payment policy. Punctuality and adherence to rules and regulations stipulated for Summer School is a must. In case of any indiscipline, students may be dropped from the program and no fee will be refunded as the commitment for other parties are made already. The admission for the School is accepted only after the parents sign on all the documents of undertaking. The fee paid is non-transferable and in the situation of cancellation due to unavoidable circumstances then cancellation policy will apply. In case of cancellation of participation before 15, March, 2018 the participant will get only 25% of the total fee paid and any payable taxes will be deducted from the 25% refund. After March 15, 2018 if there is any cancellation no refund will be possible.
