3 Section 3: Eligible Bridge Training Program Enrolment The Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program is only available to students with financial need enrolled in non-osap approved Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) funded bridge training programs with direct education costs (tuition, books and equipment). Bursary assistance is only available during the bridge training period for eligible programs commencing between September 1, 2013 and March 31, Applications for in-session programs must be received no later than March 31, 2014 by the Ryerson Student Financial Assistance office to be considered for a bursary. 4 Section 7: Employment and Income Information The Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP) is a needs based program that provides bursary assistance to students with financial need attending non-osap approved Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration (MCI) funded bridge training programs to offset direct educational costs (tuition books and equipment) for bridge training offered by Ryerson university. Financial need is determined by the institution s policies governing student financial need. 5 Part 8 - Financial Information The chart below illustrates the maximum annual income eligible to be considered for OBPAP funding based on the number for family members. The student and where applicable their spouse (married or common law), dependent children must be counted towards the number of family members. A dependent student living at home must include their parents income. IMPORTANT: Proof of gross family income must be attached to be eligible for consideration.. 6 Loss/Reduction of Bursary Funding Participants that have received an OBPAP to cover tuition fees, books or equipment costs and subsequently withdraw from their program will be required to return any tuition fee credit to the university. Ryerson Student Financial Assistance is responsible to contact students to recover OBPAP funds a student is no longer entitled to receive. If the bridge training consists of a series of courses, students will have to pay to repeat a course or courses they have dropped. If the bridge training consists of a single course, students will be considered as having withdrawn from program and will have to repay if they re-enroll. * OBPAP bursary assistance is intended to allow participants to access bridge training that will allow them to practice in the profession for which they were trained. It is not intended to fund retraining in other fields/professions. I understand that if I withdraw any of my required consents it will affect my eligibility for bursary assistance through the Ontario Bridging Participant Assistance Program (OBPAP). I understand that if I am awarded an OBPAP bursary, bursary funding will first be directed to the postsecondary institution to offset eligible direct educational costs charged by the postsecondary institution for my bridge training with any remaining funds being used to reimburse mandatory book and equipment costs (based on my submitted receipts).
