2 Cllege f Science Paul and Carlyn Thmpsn Research Fellwship This fellwship is available fr a student t cnduct research cllabratively with a Cllege f Science faculty member. A research stipend in the amunt f $2,500 will be used t supprt the student(s) thrughut the term f the research prject. An applicant fr this schlarship must: Apply fr schlarships and financial aid (cmplete a FAFSA) thrugh the eweber prtal Be able t prve legal residency f the United States Be a declared majr within any f the seven department in the Cllege f Science Be a junir r senir during the perid when the schlarship is in effect Have at least 60 credit hurs at the beginning f the upcming fall semester Be a full-time student (12 credit hurs minimum) during the perid when the schlarship is in effect This schlarship will be used t emply the applicant during the summer break while cnducting research n the submitted prject. Signature/mentr recmmendatin page The prject will be evaluated n the fllwing criteria: The student s disciplinary backgrund and methdlgical training must be adequate t carry ut the prject in a way cnsistent with the research standards f the particular discipline The student s rle in the prject must prvide an pprtunity t exercise intellectual initiative and independent thught The student must clearly define the prject in terms f its bjective, prcedures, and intended utcme, and likelihd f being cmpleted during the time specified in the prpsal The prject must result in a definable prduct (e.g. a schlarly paper r presentatin) that entails a relevant, meaningful, and engaging intellectual cntributin and/r applicatin t the discipline. The final prduct must be published r therwise frmally presented in a public frum, such as a cnference, r sympsium.
