A module is a collection of courses in a defined area of study. In many cases, you will be able to broaden your areas of study by combining programs from different faculties, schools or departments, or you can focus on a specific subject in greater depth. The Modular Degree Structure Undergraduate Degrees and Module Combinations Modules can be combined into each of Western s three undergraduate degree types. For instance, if you are planning to complete a four-year Honors Bachelor Degree, you can do an Honors Specialization in Health Sciences and a Major in Film Studies or a Major in Biochemistry and a Major in Mathematics. In fact, there are thousands of possible combinations at Western! Please Note: Not all programs offer every module type. Engineering, Foods and Nutrition, and Nursing are not included in the modular structure. 3 Admission Requirements Students applying for admission from a College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) or an Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning (ITAL) within Ontario must present one the following: Minimum cumulative average of at least 78% in a two- or three-year Diploma program, or Minimum cumulative average of at least 80% in the first-year of an acceptable General Arts and Science program or the Pre-Health Science Certificate. Admission Requirements Note: Averages quoted are minimum requirements only and do not guarantee admission. There may be secondary school level prerequisite courses necessary to be eligible for registration in some Western courses or to be eligible for admission to some programs. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information before applying. Transfer Credit Assessment Students offered admission from a CAAT or an ITAL will have their applications assessed for transfer credit provided their application meets the following requirements: Have completed, or be in the final year of, a two-year or three-year diploma program at a CAAT or ITAL. Presented a minimum final grade of 60% on each course to be considered for credit. Courses must be recognized as covering an acceptable amount of subject matter and meet the academic standards of Western. The maximum number of transfer credits available to CAAT or ITAL applicants is 5.0 credits (equivalent to one year). Credits granted may be either generic/non-specific credits or exact equivalency credits. Some transfer credits granted may not fit into a degree dependant on the program of choice. New students should make an appointment with an Academic Counsellor for program planning. Students must meet the residency requirement to complete a minimum of 10.0 credits at Western (the equivalent of two years of full-time study) to be eligible to receive a degree from Western. CAAT and ITAL programs that have defined Articulation Agreements may provide more transfer credit. Please see the website for details.

Once you have completed your application for admission to Western, you will receive an acknowledgement from the Admissions Office. This will provide you with your Western Student ID and give you step-by-step instructions on how to access your Student Center Account. Western s Student Center will help you track the receipt of your documents in the Undergraduate Admissions Office and provide you with up-to-date information on the status of your application. Documents required by the Admissions Office to assess your admissibility to Western will be referenced in your To Do list, located in your Western Student Center. Transcripts College and university transfer applicants from within Ontario are able to request electronic copies of their official transcripts when completing the online application through the OUAC. Please watch for the prompts and note the timelines for sending transcripts carefully. Refer to your To Do list to determine if your high school transcript is required for your admission assessment. A high school transcript is required if you apply to one of the following faculties: Management & Organizational Studies Engineering Health Science Offers of Admission Foods and Nutrition Kinesiology Offers of Admission are sent on a rolling basis beginning in December. Applicants are required to have at least one semester complete with final grades before admission consideration.
