1 2017/2018 Undergraduate Infrmatin Sheet Pst-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) and Yellw Ribbn Prgram Pst-9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33) Benefit The tuitin and fee benefit cap fr the 2017/2018 academic year at a private schl is $22, fr students with a 100% eligibility tier level. Tuitin and fee benefit payments are made directly t the student s university accunt. The mnthly husing allwance is paid at the E5 with dependents Basic Allwance fr Husing (BAH) rate based n the schl s zip cde Effective August 1, 2017, the husing allwance rate is $1,284 at the 100% eligibility tier level. Payment is made directly t the student s persnal bank accunt at the beginning f each mnth fr the previus mnth. Payments fr August, December, January, and May are prrated. Fr mre infrmatin: Stipends fr bks and supplies are up t $1,000 per academic year at the 100% eligibility tier level. This stipend is apprximately $41.66 per credit hur fr full-time enrllment. Payment is made directly t the student s persnal bank accunt. Benefits fr less than the 100% eligibility tier level are paid at the percentage rate f eligibility, as determined by the VA based n the service member s recrd f service. Fr example, at the 60% eligibility tier level the benefits fr an academic year are estimated at: Tuitin and fee benefit cap: $13, (60% f $22,805.34) The benefit paid will be 60% f the net tuitin and fees reprted t the VA, up t $13, fr the academic year Mnthly husing allwance: up t $ (60% f $1,284) Bks and supplies stipend: up t $600 (60% f $1,000)

2 Students receiving a schlarship frm an utside rganizatin must prvide the Office f Financial Aid with a letter frm that rganizatin specifying fr which cllege csts their schlarship funds may be used (i.e. tuitin, fees, rm, bard, bks and supplies, etc.) prir t August 1 f the academic year. Withut such a statement frm the utside rganizatin, the value f the schlarship will be deducted frm the tuitin and fees reprted t the VA. T renew annually, the student must cmplete the Benefit Electin Frm, available frm the Office f the Registrar. Summer certificatins f enrllment will nt be submitted unless requested by the student r parent. Yellw Ribbn is nt available fr summer enrllment. Revisins t the disbursement(s) made by the VA may result in an verpayment f benefits. In these cases, reimbursement f the verpaid amunt will be required. It is the student s respnsibility t ensure repayment f the veraward. Updated infrmatin and further Chapter 33 plicy infrmatin is available at Yellw Ribbn Prgram Requirements The University f Ntre Dame has prudly participated in the Pst-9/11 GI Bill s Yellw Ribbn Prgram since its inceptin in August % eligibility tier level fr veterans r dependents under the Transfer f Entitlement Benefit (TEB). The schl must participate in the Yellw Ribbn Prgram and have an pening available. Yellw Ribbn pprtunities at the University f Ntre Dame may vary based upn student level (i.e. undergraduate r graduate student) and academic prgram. The value f the Yellw Ribbn award is up t ne half f the unmet net tuitin and fees, capped at the amunt cmmitted by the schl as utlined in the Yellw Ribbn Prgram agreement. The amunt f the VA Yellw Ribbn award will be matched by the University. Sufficient benefit eligibility time (i.e. remaining mnths f eligibility) is needed t cver the full semester r term in rder t receive the full Chapter 33 and Yellw Ribbn values fr that term. 3 New Yellw Ribbn awards are ffered t admitted students n a first-cme, first-served basis determined by the receipt date f the Certificate f Eligibility (COE) (see Dcumentatin Checklist). Required dcumentatin will be accepted prir t a student s admissin and registratin; hwever, a student must be admitted and registered befre the University will cnfirm eligibility fr the Yellw Ribbn award. University schlarships (including Prvst s and Ntre Dame Club schlarships) are awarded based upn demnstrated financial need. The receipt f Chapter 33 benefits may result in an adjustment f previusly awarded University schlarships. The adjustment f University schlarships is made upn the receipt f the VA tuitin and fee benefits. Active duty members and their spuses and recipients f the Fry Schlarship are nt eligible fr the Yellw Ribbn award. The University s cntinued participatin in the Yellw Ribbn prgram, the value f the Yellw Ribbn award and the number f Yellw Ribbn awards may change each academic year pending cmpletin f the annual Yellw Ribbn participatin agreement with the VA. The Yellw Ribbn award will be autmatically renewed fr returning students wh have previusly received the Yellw Ribbn award as lng as the student has sufficient eligibility time remaining and the University cntinues participatin in the prgram. Payment f University charges exceeding the VA benefits is required by the due date. Payment f the rm and bard charge is required by the due date each semester. 5 VA Dcumentatin Checklist Please submit the required Certificate f Eligibility t the Office f Financial Aid via at fafrms@nd.edu, fax (574) r U.S. mail. The student s name and NDid (if available) shuld be included. Required: Certificate f Eligibility (COE). This dcument is issued by the VA nce the review f a student s applicatin fr Pst-9/11 GI Bill educatin benefits is cmplete. The receipt date f the COE will serve as a placehlder fr ne f the limited number f Yellw Ribbn awards. Optinal: Apprved Transfer f Educatin Benefits (TEB). A screensht r fficial shwing the transfer f benefits may be submitted as supplemental dcumentatin prir t receipt f the COE. The COE must be submitted when it is available.
