In order to adequately prepare for the first day of instruction on August 24, we need all students to attend Prep Days on August 11 th or 12 th. During Prep Days, students will receive schedules, lockers, transportation information, textbooks, IDs and much more. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to purchase a yearbook and Bronco attire. So as to minimize long lines, we ask that you attend Prep Days during your assigned time; the schedule of times is enclosed in this brochure. Please complete any applicable forms in this packet and bring them with you to Prep Days. Prep Days help us minimize logistical issues on the first day of school. Please help us by making it a priority for you and/or your child to attend. We are anxious to see our Brandeis Broncos be successful in and out of the classroom in the school year. Geri Berger, Ed.D. 2 PREP DAYS INFORMATION Brandeis High School will hold Prep Days on August 11 and 12, 2015 for all BHS students. Please follow this schedule for dates, times and alphabetic groups by last name. We look forward to seeing everyone! Seniors: Tuesday, August 11 Sophomores: Wednesday, August 12 8:30-9:30 A-H 8:30-9:30 A-H 9:30-10:30 I-P 9:30-10:30 I-P 10:30-11:30 Q-Z 10:30-11:30 Q-Z Juniors: Tuesday, August 11 Freshmen: Wednesday, August 12 12:30-1:30 A-H 12:30-1:30 A-H 1:30-2:30 I-P 1:30-2:30 I-P 2:30-3:30 Q-Z 2:30-3:30 Q-Z Student ID s: Freshmen and new students may have their ID pictures taken between August 3 th -6 th in the AP office from 9 to 11 am. Or 1 to 4 pm. They will be available for pick-up during prep days at the ID station. Northside School District Student Dress Code To aid students and their parents in making decisions about appropriate dress and grooming for school, the following NISD guidelines have been established. Students found in violation of the established dress code will be required to contact a parent and will be placed in ISS until the violation is corrected. 1. Shorts, shants, skorts, and tights (Yoga Pants) are prohibited in grades six through twelve. 2. Capri pants should be at least 4 inches below the knee. 3. Skirt length should be no more than 4 inches above the knee. 4. Hair must be neat and clean. No outrageous hairstyles or colors will be allowed. 5. Headwear (Hats, Hoodies, etc) must not be worn in the buildings and it is not recommended for school. 6. See-through garments are not appropriate. 7. Tanks tops, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, exposed backs or midriffs are not allowed. 8. Body piercing jewelry is prohibited except for rings, studs or other traditional jewelry worn in the ear. Tongue rings, tongue and chin studs, lip rings, brow piercings, are not permitted. Because fads in dress and grooming are subject to sudden, and sometimes, radical change, a basic rule to remember is that student dress and grooming should not be suggestive or indecent, or so bizarre and unusual as to detract from the classroom environment. If a student comes to school inappropriately dressed, he/she will be asked to contact a parent/guardian to bring a change of clothing. Laptops Brandeis students will have the option of using their personal laptop computers on campus. Administration will inform students via morning announcements when they may begin bringing laptops to school. Cell Phones The district permits high school students to possess cellular phones or paging devices while on school property or while attending school sponsored or school related activities on or off campus. Students shall keep the devices turned off and not visible during the regular school day. At Brandeis all cell phones must be turned off and placed out of sight from the first bell at 8:50 am until the last bell of the day at 4:05 pm. The district shall not be responsible for any damage, theft, or loss of cellular phone. Students who violate this policy shall be subject to established disciplinary measures. District employees shall confiscate any cellular phones from students who violate this policy. Electronic Devices Radios, portable speakers, laser pens, and other electronic devices, playing cards, and any games (items not related to the day-to-day activities of our school) are not conducive to a healthy educational atmosphere and should not be brought to school. (See Section C under Nuisances. ) Senior Pictures If you have not had your senior picture taken at Prestige Photography, call for an appointment or visit Only photos taken at Prestige will appear in the yearbook and must be made by October 15. Time is limited. Call before all appointments are taken.

Cards Parking Lockers Cafeteria Bus Information Off Campus Lunch Textbooks Career Center If you have been previously notified that you need an immunization booster, please arrange to get the immunization and provide records for the nurse at prep days. Students will not be allowed to register or continue with Prep Day Stations if all immunizations are not updated. Students will receive a copy of their schedule during Prep Days. Students who have a new address within the Brandeis attendance area should make changes by showing proof of residence (utility bill, lease agreement, contract, etc.) Students wishing to purchase a yearbook should bring $60. Make checks payable to BRANDEIS HIGH SCHOOL. The cost of the yearbook will increase after Prep Days and during this time only will the $60 fee include a free name stamping. Seniors don t forget to order your Senior Yearbook Ad. Visit the campus website for rates or call Senior will take their pictures at the Lifetouch Studio. School pictures for all other students (9-11) will be taken at Prep Days by Lifetouch Studios. Please follow NISD Dress Code standards when selecting your attire for these pictures. Picture package information is included. Checks should be made payable to LIFETOUCH STUDIOS. ID cards will be made prior to prep days. Please visit the Brandeis website for date and time information. All students are required to carry an I.D. on campus. JUNIORS & SENIORS ONLY! Juniors and Seniors who will be driving to school should complete the enclosed parental permission and information form. Bring proof of insurance, driver s license, and $20. A new parking permit must be purchased each school year. Checks should be made payable to BRANDEIS HIGH SCHOOL. Rules and regulations for parking will be distributed during Prep Days. Lockers will be issued during Prep Days. Our cafeteria manager will be on hand to sell meal tickets and answer questions concerning food service. The NISD Transportation information will be available at Prep Days. Bus route info will also be available online at Juniors and Seniors wishing to leave campus during their lunch period must have parental permission. Please complete the permission form included. Lunch specific student IDs will be required for all students who qualify for off-campus lunch privileges. Juniors and Seniors will need to bring their IDs to Prep Days in order to apply for Off Campus lunch. Books will be distributed during Prep Days according to student schedules. Students and Parents will receive valuable information regarding academic support and college preparation. Spirit Items/Club Info Various booster clubs and school organizations will be in the cafeteria and courtyard to sell refreshments, spirit items, and provide membership information. Students may wish to bring extra money or checks for these purchases.

COOP STUDENT: YES NO: Parking Policy All student vehicles with the privilege to park on Brandeis High School campus must be registered with the Administrative Office and affix a current parking permit to the bottom right (passenger) corner of the front windshield. A new parking permit must be purchased each year. Parking permits will be sold for $20.00 to students who are registered Brandeis High School students with junior or senior status, have a valid Texas driver s license, and provide proof of insurance showing vehicle being registered and student s name. A parking permit must be purchased for each vehicle that will be driven on campus. The transfer of parking permits from one vehicle to another is not permitted! Students who must drive a different vehicle for a short period of time must obtain a temporary permit from the Assistant Principals office. Sophomores with extenuating circumstances may request a parking permit. Request forms are available in the Assistant Principals office. Additional requirements may apply and submitting a request does not guarantee a parking permit. Requests may take 5 10 days to process. For safety purposes (ie. Inclement weather) administration may declare a closed campus and students will not be allowed to drive off the campus until it is determined to be safe. Parking Rules The speed limit on campus is 10 miles per hour. Students may park in lots A & C ONLY. Vehicles parked in any other are are subject to towing at the owner s expense. Parking for students will be strictly limited to the designated student parking area. A student with a fraudulently obtained parking permit may lose their parking privileges for the remainder of the year. There will be no loitering in the parking lot before or after school or during lunches. Students vehicles are subject to search if there are reasonable grounds to believe that drugs, alcohol, stolen property, or any other contraband might be located in the vehicle. Repeated violations may result in the loss of parking privileges and disciplinary action. Any time that parking privileges are suspended for any length of time, the parking permit will be removed and a new parking permit must be purchased if the parking privileges are reinstated. Serious traffic violations such as speeding, unsafe or reckless driving, evading, or repeated traffic violations will result in the loss of parking privileges (along with other possible consequences) and a parent conference may be required if a new application is made for parking privileges to be reinstated. If a student has excessive unexcused absences or chronic tardiness to any class, his/her parking privileges may be removed until the student shows significant improvement in his/her attendance or a set period of time by Brandeis administration. Consult your Student-Parent Handbook for further information. Administration may remove off campus privileges for all students during emergency situations or in the case of inclement weather. Any moving traffic violations, parking violations, or policy violations may result in administrative consequences and/or a citation by NISD Police Officers or any other law enforcement office that may be on campus. 6 Off Campus Lunch Privileges Seniors and Juniors may be released for off-campus lunch if they meet the following criteria: 1. Student must have a signed parent/guardian permission form on file. 2. Did not lose credits due to excessive absences during the school year. 3. Students leaving campus for off-campus lunch must be back by the required time. Students who come back late may lose off-campus privileges. 4. Students may not visit other campuses. 5. Students who have off-campus lunch must present his/her ID card to school personnel in order to leave campus. 6. Approved students may not transport students who do not have off-campus lunch privileges. Drivers are responsible for knowing the status of any passengers regarding off-campus lunch privileges. SENIORS/JUNIORS MAY FORFEIT THEIR OFF CAMPUS LUNCH PRIVELEGES FOR ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE RULES AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO FURTHER DISCIPLINARY ACTION.
