5 PRE-APPRENTICESHIP / INTERNSHIP A unique opportunity for Career Tech students to enter a highly skilled occupation while attending their senior year. Students will receive on the job training with an employer and related technical instruction for the skills needed to succeed in their career field Present (MVCTC) 1997 Present (UVCC)

6 THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS TO BE ACCEPTED INTO THE SCHOOL TO APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM ARE AS FOLLOWS: Miami Valley Career Technology Center 2.5 GPA or better and passing all classes junior year 95% attendance or better All teachers recommendations Valid driver s license preferred / reliable transportation No deficiencies or other obstacles that would prevent earning a high school diploma on schedule Parent or guardian support Junior program fees paid / Tools for Employment Successful completion of Junior Year (Level 1) career technical training. Job with an employer who is willing to participate in our apprenticeship program Demonstrates good citizenship characteristics, follows regulations and self-disciplined Upper Valley Career Center Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average Have successfully completed a one year of career-technical training Have maintained 95% attendance while at Career Center Have parent/guardian support Demonstrates good citizenship On track to graduate Have reliable transportation and has a valid driver s license Have been interviewed and accepted by an apprenticeship sponsor Teacher/Instructor Recommendations

7 PROCESS AND PROCEDURES Pull grades after First Semester for eligibility Students complete Placement Application Job Shadow with an area employer Interview/Hire process with employer Student/Parent Meeting Successfully complete a one year of career-technical training Work over the summer of their senior year Employer Evaluation Forms utilized for lab grade Employer/Student follow up by Coordinator
