We endeavor to provide an environment conducive to the growth and holistic development of each student. In keeping with the college motto "Higher Still", we encourage the spirit of competition, co-operation and commitment. PGGCG-42, a prestigious institution, established in 1982, located in the Southern Sectors, provides quality education to over 3600 girl students and offers graduate, post- graduate and numerous professional and semi-professional courses. With sprawling lawns, well-maintained gardens and playgrounds, ours is the only city Govt. College to have an Eco-Friendly Park. An exclusive Information Technology Block, with cutting edge facilities like sophisticated Computer Labs and real-time Video-Conferencing have been added to the existing infrastructure. A fully airconditioned and computerized Library houses 37,000 books, encyclopedias, journals, subscribes to 72 magazines and 19 newspapers in different languages. With IINFLIBNET facility to access e-books and e-journals, a reading room and five computer terminals for the students, the library is the backbone of our academic system. New Smart classrooms, Multimedia rooms and Wi-Fi connectivity on the campus have recently been added. Catering to the needs of out-station students, we have Hostel facility with all modern amenities, including a recreation area with LCD, Computer-room, a Reading-room, Indoor-games, Beauty-parlour and Medical facilities. Yoga, dance / music classes and remedial classes are regularly organized for the physical and mental well-being of the resident students. A fruit / juice stall and a canteen provide clean, nutritious food and a stationery shop provides books and stationery items. Incorporating awareness about the environment and responsibility towards the society is part of our educational mandate. There are numerous clubs, societies of various disciplines as well as an Environment society, Drug -deaddiction society, AIDS awareness society, Guidance and Counseling Cell, Gender equity and Non-discrimination Society, Heritage Society, Women Cell, one NCC wing and four NSS wings. Along with this, we organize seminars and conferences, Gender and Theatre workshops. Personal guidance in Academics, Sports and the Performing Arts helps our students to enhance their inherent talents. I hope you will join and actively participate in these group-activities. The Computer Science department of our college offers maximum professional courses in Information Technology. The Physical Education department promotes 19 sports activities and our students have brought laurels in National and International competitions. Our students have been enthusiastically participating and excelling in cultural activities, declamations, debates and quiz at the inter-college, Zonal and Inter-Zonal Youth Festivals. In the best interest of the students, we also have a Placement Cell, Anti-Ragging Cell, Anti-Stress Helpline, and a Cell to guard against Sexual Harassment. A team of highly qualified faculty, a hallmark of this institution, is the guiding force for the intellectual and emotional strength of the students. They work relentlessly as facilitators to enable our students to explore their creativity and potential, learn the value of hard work and achieve excellence.
