4 BACHELOR OF DESIGN (INTERIOR DESIGN) Thinking about a career in interior design? Learn in a studio-based environment and be trained by leading interior designers. Course code HE20501 Design Centre Enmore 3 years full-time $1,800 per subject The Bachelor of Design (Interior Design) develops highly creative, technically skilled interior design professionals. The degree is delivered at the award-winning Design Centre Enmore in Sydney. This course requires you to complete 24 subjects. This course is career-focused and covers both practical and theoretical aspects of interior design. It offers a diverse educational experience, exploring the scope of international creative design practice. You will learn how to create innovative, original interior design concepts, explore the spatial, structural and material elements of built interior environments and develop a comprehensive understanding of interaction between interior spaces and the people who use them. As a graduate of this degree, you will have the ability to think critically and manage complex projects from the initial concept through to a successful, detailed solution. 5 BACHELOR OF 3D ART AND ANIMATION Want to work as a 3D and visual effects artist or animator? This course will give you the skills to work in areas such as feature film-making, game production, television, online content development, advertising and visualisation. Course code HE20520 Design Centre Enmore 3 years full-time $2,000 per subject The Bachelor of 3D Art and Animation is a three-year practical and professional degree that prepares graduates for careers as 3D and visual effects artists and animators. It is the only degree of its type in New South Wales and is delivered at the Design Centre Enmore, Sydney. This course requires you to complete 24 subjects. Technical skills. You will work with highly-experienced and technicallyproficient teachers with current industry experience. Most of our teachers have worked on television and feature film animations. Industry skills. You will work on practical projects in a simulated workplace environment. As you progress through the degree you will acquire the knowledge and practical skills required for a successful career in the digital media entertainment industry. Work experience. You will complete a major studio project and have the opportunity to undertake an industry internship to practice the skills you have learnt. Specialisation. In your third year, you can elect to undertake a rendering, modelling or animation specialisation. On successful completion of the Bachelor of 3D Art and Animation you will be qualified to work in a wide range of contexts in the 3D art and animation industry in Australia and overseas in areas such as feature film-making, game production, television, online content development, advertising and visualisation in roles such as 3D concept artist, 3D visualisation artist, matte painter, modeller, animator, character rigger or compositor or visual effects coordinator. Exit point Depending on subjects completed, students who wish to exit on completion of two years of full-time study may be eligible for the award of Associate Degree of 3D Art and Animation. 5

6 BACHELOR OF FASHION DESIGN Where do successful fashion designers study? Join graduates from the Fashion Design Studio including Ginger and Smart, Dion Lee, Alex Perry and Romance Was Born. Course code HE20506 Ultimo Campus 3 years full-time $2,000 per subject The Fashion Design Studio (FDS) at Sydney TAFE Ultimo has been a leading Fashion Design education institute since 1955 and has produced a large number of well-known and highly acclaimed fashion designers. In 2015 FDS was named the top fashion school in Australia and in the top 50 fashion schools in the world by Fashionista magazine. With a reputation spanning decades, FDS continues to produce graduates with highly developed creative and technical skills in both the fashion and textile and print design disciplines. This course requires you to complete 28 subjects. Most subjects cost $2,000 but some subjects cost $1,000. The Bachelor of Fashion Design teaches students about colour, design, illustration and CAD, whilst also teaching the technical skills to achieve design realisation. Marketing and business skills are also taught so that students have the necessary design and business skills to help them accomplish career aspirations. With a focus on individuality and innovation, students in the Bachelor of Fashion Design are encouraged to explore their creative boundaries and to draw upon various design disciplines in order to develop their own signature style. 7 BACHELOR OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE (BIRTH 5) This four year degree qualifies you to be an early childhood teacher. Course code HE20510 Glendale campus Nirimba campus Randwick campus Shellharbour campus 4 years full-time $1,000 per subject The Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (Birth 5) is a fouryear teaching degree. With the federal government committed to increasing the number of four-year trained early childhood teachers, graduates of this course will be in high demand. This course requires you to complete 32 class-based subjects and 8 work placement subjects. No tuition fee is charged for the work placement subjects. There is a strong, applied learning focus to this degree so that when you graduate, you will be ready to work in a variety of settings including long day care, preschool, integrated child and family services and early intervention services. As well as learning to become an early childhood teacher, you will study child development and pedagogical practices, welfare, ethics, diversity and social justice. Each semester, full time students complete four core campus-based subjects as well as a practical work placement. The work placement gives you the opportunity to apply what you ve learned in a real early childhood teaching environment. Work placements. By the end of the degree you will have completed eight professional experience placements with children from birth to five years. A supportive learning environment. This three-year degree will prepare you for employment as a network security specialist in this fast-growing and dynamic industry. Developed in close consultation with industry, this degree has a strong applied focus, where you will learn through projects with the help of teachers who are industry leaders in the field. This course requires you to complete 24 subjects. This course offers you a solid foundation in network design, administration and security with a focus on critical analysis and problem solving skills. You will learn how to analyse security risks and apply appropriate mechanisms and policies to secure networks. The course includes a range of electives including knowledge management, data infrastructure engineering, network security, data mining, computer and network forensics, ecommerce and egovernment security and much more. Technical skills. TAFE NSW is renowned for its practical, hands-on training. You will learn the acceptable methods and procedures for security compliance that are implemented in industry to local and international standards. Business awareness. As well as developing technical expertise, you will also develop the skills needed by all successful professionals including communication and critical thinking skills, problem solving, and teamwork. 9 BACHELOR OF PROPERTY VALUATION The Bachelor of Property Valuation is a three year degree which prepares graduates for work as a valuer in a range of contexts across residential, commercial and public sectors, both in Australia and overseas. Course code HE20507 Ultimo campus 3 years full-time $1,150 per subject This course requires you to complete 24 subjects. This course has a strong focus on providing students with both practical skills and theoretical knowledge. You will learn about the property market, property classifications, current property values, and how the practice of property valuation is underpinned by legislation, regulations and legal precedents. Industry focussed. This degree is a practical industry based qualification taught by teachers with current industry experience. Practical skills. Learning is through case studies and practical field trips. Electives. Students choose from a range of specialist electives in third year. Successful completion of the Bachelor of Property Valuation will enable you to work as a property valuer both in Australia and overseas. In addition to learning about residential, retail, commercial and rural valuation, you will learn about types of land usage, cultural land rights, building styles and heritage matters. Course code HE20521 St George campus 3 years full-time $1,150 per subject The Bachelor of Applied Finance (Financial Planning) is a three-year professional degree that will prepare graduates for employment in the financial planning and financial services industries. In addition to financial planning, the course covers areas such as superannuation, funds management, investment banking and other related fields. This course requires you to complete 24 subjects. Practical skills. This degree has a multidisciplinary focus so students develop practical skills and in-depth knowledge of the financial planning and wider financial services industry. An industry internship. You will undertake an industry placement in third year which gives you the opportunity to apply your learning in a real work setting and to establish valuable industry networks. An industry-recognised qualification. This degree aligns with the ASIC RG146 guideline for financial planners and has also been accredited by the Australian Financial Planner s Education Council (FPEC) as an approved bachelor qualification for people wishing to work as a financial planner. On successful completion of the Bachelor of Applied Finance (Financial Planning) you will be qualified to work as a financial planner, investment advisor, client relationship manager, business investment analyst, financial analyst or institutional banking analyst. 11 ASSOCIATE DEGREE OF ACCOUNTING The Associate Degree of Accounting is a two-year higher education qualification that prepares you for work in para-professional roles in the accounting profession. Course code HE20522 Meadowbank campus Newcastle campus Ourimbah campus St George campus Ultimo campus 2 years full-time $1,150 per subject This course requires you to complete 16 subjects. By completing the Associate Degree of Accounting you will develop both practical skills and comprehensive knowledge in accounting, tax, finance, statistics, marketing and law as they apply to the accounting profession as well as the broader Australian business environment. The Associate Degree of Accounting is ideal for people who want a practical industry-focused qualification. When you graduate at the end of two years fulltime study (or equivalent part-time) you can choose to work in the industry or to continue your studies by enrolling into third year of an accounting or commerce degree either at TAFE or with one of our partner universities #. # Partner universities are Macquarie, CSU, UNE and ACU. Enrolment into third year is subject to terms and conditions as prescribed by each partner. DIPLOMA OF ACCOUNTING On completion of the course you will be able to work in a range of paraprofessional roles in accounting and taxation practices. Further completion of an accredited bachelor degree will provide you with the knowledge and qualifications to commence professional certification programs with CPA Australia, the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA). Course code HE20523 Wagga Wagga campus 1 year full-time $1,150 per subject This course requires you to complete 8 subjects. The Diploma of Accounting is a one year higher education qualification offered at Wagga Wagga campus. The Diploma allows students to complete the first eight subjects in the Associate Degree of Accounting and to exit after one year of full-time study with a Diploma qualification. The Diploma provides students with practical accounting knowledge and skills required to work in support roles in the accounting profession. 11

12 ASSOCIATE DEGREE OF APPLIED ENGINEERING (RENEWABLE ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES) This course is for people who are both interested in engineering and have concerns for the future of the planet. Course code HE20502 Mount Druitt campus Newcastle campus Ultimo campus 2 years full-time $1,500 per subject The Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies) has been designed to address the needs of a rapidly evolving energy market, in which governments and corporations are adjusting their priorities to reflect environmental imperatives. This course requires you to complete 16 subjects You will develop a combination of theoretical and practical electrical, mechanical and civil engineering skills related to designing, developing, installing, maintaining, repairing, commissioning and decommissioning renewable and sustainable energy technology solutions. Technical and industry skills. TAFE NSW is known for its practical handson training, and its applied approach to learning. The course has been developed in consultation with industry, and teaching and learning is aligned to engineering industry standards and practices. Specialisation. Students select electives from either the electrical engineering specialisation or the mechanical/civil engineering specialisation. Workplace learning. Students will complete six weeks of professional experience in a relevant engineering workplace. A flexible pathway that can lead to university. 13 GRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN LEADERSHIP This postgraduate course is for people who want to develop or update their management and leadership skills. Course code HE20503 This course is delivered fully online 1 year part-time $1,500 per subject The Graduate Certificate in Leadership is a contemporary leadership course targeted at both new and existing managers who wish to develop and build on their professional and organisational capability. The course is delivered fully online with no face-toface class attendance required, so you don t need to take time out from work to complete the requirements of this course. This course requires you to complete 4 subjects. Practical. Learning and assessment activities are structured to allow you to use real work scenarios. Professional relevance. Students complete three core subjects and one elective focussing on contemporary leadership skills and theory, with the development of skills and capabilities to enable you to lead and manage in emerging, complex and changing organisational contexts. This course is designed to enhance professional opportunities for graduates who already work in, or wish to take up, management or leadership roles. Further studies Graduates of this course who work in the vocational education and training sector can apply to continue their studies in the Graduate Diploma of Leadership (VET Sector) which is also delivered online. This postgraduate course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to lead and manage in a range of workplace contexts. Fully online delivery. This course is delivered fully online, so there is no need to attend face-to-face classes. 13

14 APPLYING FOR ENTRY INTO A TAFE DEGREE Eligibility for degree courses You must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible for admission to a TAFE NSW Higher Education undergraduate degree program: > > NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent; or > > Tertiary Preparation Certificate; or > > Certificate IV level or higher vocational qualification; or > > completion of at least one year full-time study or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution. Entry requirements Each course of study may set its own specific entry requirements in addition to the minimum eligibility requirements above. For example, students may need to successfully complete a test and/or interview or submit a portfolio of art and design work. For course specific entry requirements check the course information page on the TAFE NSW website at: www. tafensw.edu.au/courses/tafe-nsw-degrees How to apply Complete an application form, and include any additional evidence listed on the application form. Submit the form to the campus you wish to study at by the closing date. The application form and closing dates can be downloaded at: www. tafensw.edu.au/courses/tafe-nsw-degrees/ applying-and-fees Your application will be assessed against the entry requirements for the course. Where applications exceed places, 14 applicants will be ranvbased on the merits of their application. Offers will be made in rank order. If your application is successful If your application is successful, the campus will send you an offer letter. To accept the offer of a place, you must complete and return the Acceptance Form that is attached to your offer letter by the date specified in the offer letter. If you do not accept the offer by the date indicated, your offer will be withdrawn and your place in the course will be offered to another applicant. International students International students are subject to different application processes, including minimum English language proficiency at IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 6 in any one band. You only pay for subjects you are enrolled in each semester. Tuition fees charged for each subject vary between courses. You should check the course you wish to apply for to determine the relevant tuition fees. Tuition fees are reviewed regularly and are subject to

15 change. You will pay the subject tuition fee relevant to each semester. This will not necessarily be the same subject fee that you paid when you first enrolled. You can access the TAFE NSW Higher Education tuition fee schedule at: au/courses/tafe-nsw-degrees/for-degreestudents Equipment and other costs In addition to tuition fees, you may be required to purchase additional resources (such as equipment, protective clothing and textbooks) in connection with some subjects of your course. The course coordinator will advise you of any additional costs related to your course. Fee payment options Paying fees up-front Tuition fees and other enrolment-related charges can be paid up-front by EFTPOS, Visa Card, Master Card, personal cheque, bank cheque or money order, at your local Australia Post office or by BPAY. Cash is not accepted. Study now, pay later FEE-HELP The Australian government provides assistance to higher education students through the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP). FEE-HELP is a student loan scheme and is available to eligible feepaying students to pay all or part of their tuition fees. FEE-HELP is available for all TAFE NSW degrees and provides eligible students with the option of: > > taking out a FEE-HELP loan from the commonwealth for all of their tuition fees; or > > paying part of their tuition fees upfront and taking out a FEE-HELP loan for the balance. Am I eligible for a FEE-HELP loan? To be eligible for FEE-HELP you must: > > be an Australian citizen or a permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be resident in Australia for the duration of study. From 2016 some New Zealand citizens may be eligible for FEE-HELP; > > provide a tax file number; > > not exceed your FEE-HELP loan limit; > > provide, or be allocated, a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN) a unique identifying number provided by the Australian government. How do I pay back the loan? You repay your FEE-HELP loan through the Australian tax system when you reach the minimum income threshold for repayment. How do I apply for FEE-HELP? To apply for FEE-HELP, you must: > > read the FEE-HELP Information Booklet which you can access at and > > complete a Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form on or before the census date. You can get a hard copy Request for FEE-HELP Assistance form from the campus, or you can complete it electronically when you enrol. More information It is important to note that FEE-HELP is a loan between you and the commonwealth government and subject to rules set by the government. TAFE NSW Higher Education and its students must comply with FEE- HELP rules. It is also important to note that the commonwealth charges a 25% loan fee for FEE-HELP loans for undergraduate programs.
