5 Item 3 February 27, 2017 COLLEGE of DuPAGE SPECIAL BOARD MEETING BOARD APPROVAL 1. SUBJECT Approval to pay expenses incurred related to cases brought before the College of DuPage Education Officers Electoral Board. 2. REASON FOR CONSIDERATION Board approval is needed to pay the expenses incurred related to cases brought before the Education Officers Electoral Board of Community College District No BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Education Officers Electoral Board of Community College District No. 502 was required by law to convene and pass upon objections to nomination papers for two-year and six-year term candidates for the Board of Trustees, who will be voted on by the electors of the District at the Consolidated Election on April 4, Members of the Education Officers Electoral Board of Community College District No. 502 included Chairman Mazzochi, Secretary Napolitano, and the longest serving member of the College of DuPage Board of Trustees, Joseph Wozniak. The Electoral Board was convened on January 10, 2017 to hear the following cases related to the April 4, 2017 Consolidated Election: Franckowiak v. Waheed, 2017 EB 001; Franckowiak v. Ghani, 2017 EB 002; Solyom v. Waheed, 2017 EB 003; and Solyom v. Ghani, 2017 EB 004 The Electoral Board held subsequent hearings on January 17 and 19, On February 9, 2017, the Electoral Board issued final rulings in these matters. As part of the hearing process, and in accordance with the Illinois Election Code, the Electoral Board incurred various expenses. These expenses included court reporter fees, postage, service of process fees, and fees relating to the services of an examiner to review public voting and property records. At a meeting on February 9, 2017, the Electoral Board approved a request to the Board of Trustees for payment of these expenses.

6 Item 3 February 27, 2017 Authorization is therefore requested of the College of DuPage Board of Trustees to pay the expenses incurred by the Education Officers Electoral Board of Community College District No. 502 in the amount of $9,043.00, as reflected in the attachment. Funds are available in the Board of Trustees account. 4. RECOMMENDATION That the Board of Trustees authorizes payment of expenses incurred related to cases brought before the Education Officers Electoral Board of Community College District No. 502 in the amount of $9,043.00, as per the attached expense report.
