1 School of Scholarships and s 2016 Estimated Multiple s - Multiple Programs Barton Malow Fellowship $5,000 X Doctoral Admit Faculty Nomination Provides $5,000 annually to supplement the doctoral graduate assistant package for a newly admitted student from Virginia. This annual fellowship award will be utilized for recruitment purposes and will continue to fund a new doctoral graduate student each year. Distribution is as follows: SPACE , EPPL 2012 &2013, SPACE 2014, EPPL 2015 & 2016, SPACE 2017 Faculties from any School of program are asked to nominate a qualified new admit by submitting the application form and supporting letter for the admit. The Academic Affairs Committee will select the recipient from the nominations.. Dawn Benson Memorial Scholarship $2,320 X 1 Gifted C&I or EPPL For academically gifted graduate students in Gifted. Preference given to students with international experiences/backgrounds. Submit completed application form, statement of international experience, resume, and a letter of recommendation from a School of faculty member. The resume must indicate how many Dean Bettker Memorial Endowment (May 2003) $1,873 X 1 Undergraduate or Any SOE Student must be a full-time student in the School of. Preference should be given to those students who were born in or whose permanent residences are in Western New York and those students exhibiting financial need. 1

Preference will be given to educators currently working in the following school divisions: New Kent County, Newport News, York County, or Williamsburg-James City County Harry Robert Elmore Memorial Scholarship (December 2000) $5,489 X 1 Any SOE Academically distinguished Virginia resident graduate student in the School of. EPPL 2016; SPACE 2017; C&I 2018 S. Stuart Flanagan Family Fellowship $1,800 X 1 Doctoral EPPL or SPACE (with preference for counseling) Student should For doctoral students who demonstrate significant financial need, a high record of academic achievement, and service to others. Preference will be given to VA residents with a spirit of independence, creativity & entrepreneurial interests Submit application, an essay/statement that demonstrates significant financial need, academic qualifications and honors, service, spirit of independence, creativity, and entrepreneurial interests. Students must also submit a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a William & Mary faculty member. The resume must indicate how many semesters of the program they have completed and the expected graduation date. Kappa Delta Pi Achievement $500 1 Active KDP members Student must be an active member of Kappa Delta Pi. Nelson Memorial Scholarship (1990) $1,000 X 1 Undergraduate or Curriculum and Instruction or Administration Students must be pursuing careers in either teaching or educational administration and must demonstrate the level of professional competence, the commitment to education, and the love of teaching and learning that characterized the lives of both Dr. and Mrs. Nelson. EPPL 2015; C&I 2016; EPPL 2017; C&I Barbara M. Welch Fellowship (2014) $2,000 X 1 Any SOE For degree seeking graduate students in the School of. The Christopher Wren Association Scholarship (November 1989) $3,000 X 1 Any SOE Student must be a part-time. The student will exhibit an understanding of the importance of life-long learning through their own personal career choice of continuing or enhancing their education, and/or through their area of study and research to enhance learning over the lifespan. 3

The Kevin Geoffroy Memorial Fellowship Endowment (December 1996) $1,829 X 1 Faculty Nomination Students must be recognized as an academically distinguished graduate student in the School of Program. Must have a commitment to the counseling profession, be able to recognize and encourage the individual potential of others, facilitate as well as reconcile different points of view and demonstrate a strong desire to write. Faculties in the Program are asked to nominate a qualified student by submitting the application form, resume, and letter of recommendation. Approval of the Committee is given prior to the announcement of the recipient. The John B. and Frances H. Harmon Family Scholarship for Men (January 2000) $2,708 X 1 Faculty Nomination Academically distinguished male student. Faculties in the Program are asked to nominate a qualified student by submitting the application form, resume, and letter of recommendation. Approval of the Committee is given prior to the announcement of the recipient. The John B. and Frances H. Hudgins Memorial Scholarship award was created to provide support for the teaching or study of Guidance and in the School of at the College of William and Mary. The John H. and Ardyss S. Wherry Scholarship (November 1999) $1,800 X 1 Faculty Nomination Academically distinguished graduate student in the guidance and counseling program. Faculties in the Program are asked to nominate a qualified student by submitting the application form, resume, and letter of recommendation. Preference given to doctoral students enrolled full-time. The resume must indicate how many semesters of the program they have completed and when they expect to graduate. It should also detail the student's dissertation research endeavors. Martha L. Muguira Fellowship $1,924 X EPPL For graduate students in the al Policy, Planning and Leadership program. Preference is given to Hispanic or Latino women who have financial need. The Mary L. Murphy Scholarship Fund (May 2006) $1,960 X 1 K 12 Admin Preference is given to individuals interested in leadership positions at an elementary school and/or the pre-k-12 Administration program SURN Virginia L. McLaughlin Collaborative Leadership $500 X 1 EPPL For a graduate student from a SURN partner school division. The awardee will evidence the leadership attributes for which SURN honors Dr. Virginia L. McLaughlin. Thom Terwilliger Higher $3,177 X 1 Doctoral Higher For full-time doctoral students in the Higher program. The Terwilliger Fellows will work directly for Higher faculty supporting research in the field while also promoting the professional development and research agenda of the graduate student. 7

Preference given to a student pursuing a degree in Literacy Leadership. Frances J. Smith Memorial Scholarship $800 x 1 Secondary English For a graduate student pursuing the master's program in Secondary English. Preference given to a student who completed his/her undergraduate degree at The College of William and Mary 9

The Harry and Martha Divens and Lawrence and Margaret Hauben Scholarship Endowment (December 1997) $1,902 X 1 Undergraduate Elementary or Secondary Academically distinguished undergraduate student. Mr. and Mrs. James Scott Duff Scholarship (October 2002) $6,243 X 1 Undergraduate Elementary or Secondary This scholarship must be awarded on need not merit. The recipient must be a Virginia resident and can only receive this award one time. Wampler Family Undergraduate Scholarship $2,200 X 1 Undergraduate Elementary or Secondary For undergraduate students in the School of, with a preference for students from Virginia who have demonstrated financial need. The Margie Lee Wygal and Family Scholarship Endowment (February 1998) $2,400 X 1 Undergraduate Elementary Academically distinguished student majoring in Elementary. 10

Preference given to students from the City of Franklin or Southampton County, VA. S. Stuart Flanagan Family Scholarship $1,948 X 1 Undergraduate or Curriculum and Instruction For students who demonstrate significant financial need, a high record of academic achievement, and service to others. 12 School of Scholarships and s 2016 Estimated The Mary Faust Galfo Science Teaching Scholarship and/or (March 2003, amended in 2005) (1) GIVEN FOR RECRUITMENT $2,000 X 1 Undergraduate or graduate (or divided) Science Students may Student must show outstanding promise in science teaching through excellence in 1) course work; 2) application of subject content to teaching; and 3) creativity in a hands-on science activity; student must also demonstrate helpfulness to fellow students and/or faculty members; and 4) show a long-term commitment to science teaching. Amended in scholarship or award is merit-based for undergrad or grad student. This award can only be awarded to an individual once. Submit application, a letter indicating 1) intention to become math teacher; 2) academic qualifications and honors; 3) statement of financial need; and 4) personal qualities/experiences leading to becoming a math teacher. Students must also submit a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a William & Mary semesters of the program they have completed and the expected graduation date. The A/FA Committee, with the advice of the math ed. program representative, selects the award winner. Sarah Lindsey Gupta Memorial Scholarship $1,831 x 1 Grad or UG C&I; preference given to those interested in Middle School For Students pursuing teacher certification; peference given to those demonstrating interest in Middle School teaching. 12

Hill Mathematics Teaching Scholarship (June 1998) (1) GIVEN FOR RECRUITMENT $5,000 X 2 Undergraduate or Math Ed This award can only be awarded to an individual once. Must be used to recruit a W&M senior ing to the MA.Ed. or an undergraduate currently in the math education program. Students submit a letter of application. Students must also submit a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a School of faculty member. The resume must indicate how many semesters of the program they have completed and when they expect to graduate. The A/FA Committee, with the advice of the elementary ed. program representative, selects the recipient. The Hornsby Family Scholarship (1989) $1,000 1 Undergraduate or Elementary Students must be preparing to teach at the primary grade-levels. The qualified student must show, by evidence of interest and activities, an understanding to the importance of nurturing positive relationships between home and school and between families and teachers. Applications demonstrating such commitment must be in the form of a letter. The Patriot Heritage Scholarship for Social Studies (February 2005) $4,000 X 1 Undergraduate or Social Studies Academically distinguished student. 13
