Designed a mixed-methods research project including an original database, surveys, and qualitative interviews. I then vetted and hired an undergraduate research assistant, and created and executed research-training curriculum for my mentee. Results from research were accepted to be presented at the 2017 AERA conference David P. Gardner Fellow in Higher Education Research, University of California, Center for the Studies in Higher Education Led by UC Berkeley Professor Emeritus Neil Smelser and Vice Chancellor Carol Christ, this interdisciplinary program brought students from a variety of departments together to collaborate and examine current issues in higher education Higher Education Assessment Research Fellow, Center for Teaching and Learning, University of California, Berkeley 3

4 Facilitated a year-long program assessment for the College of Engineering Advising Program. Helped staff develop program goals, student learning outcomes, and design an assessment survey. Produced two summaries of assessment models in higher education published on the Center for Teaching and Learning s website, developed an assessment tip-sheet disseminated to campus units, and produced a final report delivered to the Center for Teaching and Learning Graduate Student Researcher, Bancroft Library Oral Histories Project, University of California, Berkeley Assisted UC Berkeley Associate Chancellor Emeritus John Cummins conduct and analyze Oral Histories from key members of Cal s Athletic Administration. Duties included: conducting Oral History Interviews, collecting and analyzing historical artifacts relating to the Athletic Department writing grant proposals, and drafting content. Research results were published, presented at various conferences, and received national news coverage Graduate Student Researcher, UC Center for New Racial Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara Research assistant to Dr. Howard Winant and Dr. Michelle Samura. Created a database of faculty, student and staff research interests on equity and education across the UC System. RELEVANT PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE UC Berkeley Athletic Study Center (ASC) Assistant Tutorial Coordinator, and Assisted in hiring, training, and managing the ASC s peer tutors and tutorial program (approx. 70 tutors). Assigned and managed all ASC tutor requests (approx. 950 per semester) and the UC Berkeley Summer Bridge Program (approx. 50). Helped identify and evaluate the academic progress of the most academically underprepared student athletes. Conducted a tri-annual program evaluation by designing and analyzing surveys for student athletes and tutors. Academic Coach, Conducted 1:1 and group tutoring sessions with the most academically vulnerable student athletes. Assessed the needs of the student athlete and adjusted sessions to aid in their academic development and self-reliance. Depending on student needs, duties included: supplementing course material, offering time management strategies, advising students on academic and career planning, offering a variety of study approaches, writing instruction and support, enhancing their communication, and presentation skills, and building overall academic and self confidence. Graduate Student Academic Advisor for Water Polo and Football Positions, 2012: Served as primary contact for all student athletes under my purview for any academic related issues. This included counseling student athletes in academic difficulty, assigning proper support, aiding students with long-term academic planning, and course selection. Served as primary liaison for my students to other campus academic departments, faculty, and coaches. Served as primary point of contact for all NCAA Academic Compliance rules and protocol. Produced weekly progress reports on all students that were distributed to staff and coaches. University of California Athletic Department Assistant operations coordinator of Olympic Sports, Collaborated with the Director of Olympic Sports Operations to make day-to-day decisions on operations and long range planning for both sport specific and department wide initiatives. Helped train, hire and coordinate all interns for Olympic Sports. Conducted support work for teams including: sending league confirmation letters, game guarantees, contracts and expense reports, composing weekly newsletters and marketing materials, organizing team banquets, alumni days, and aid on game day. SERVICE Chancellor Dirks Appointment to Task Force on Academic-Athletics, 2014: Examined current tensions in intercollegiate athletics and offered actionable recommendations to improve the campus climate for athletes. Individual contribution to the report included: data, summary, and recommendations to resolve athletic/academic practice and scheduling conflicts, data and recommendations on admissions and probation policies. 7

Head Women s Rowing Coach Advisory Search Committee, 2014: Served as a member of the Advisory Search Committee to identify a new Women s Rowing Coach to take over one of the most successful programs in the history of the sport. Reviewed resumes, interviewed six candidates and provided feedback to Deputy Director of Athletics, and Chief-of-Staff.
