3 * KURSK KURSK IS ONE OF RUSSIA S ANCIENT CITIES AND TODAY IS A VIBRANT AND LIVELY PLACE WITH A WARM AND WELCOMING POPULATION. Many of our students comment on how safe they feel while walking around the city - even after dark. The city has or passions, from history to art and sports and beyond. Geography The Kursk region is situated in the centre of the European part of Russia, within the forest and steppe zone on a hilly plain divided by ravines and river valleys. The climate is moderately continental. Climate Temperature ranges from C30+ to C20-. Winter season is from the middle of November until the middle of March. Transport Kursk has a domestic airport 10KM from KSMU. It is just a one Domodedovo, Shermetivo and Vnukovo airports. All our students arrive through Moscow airports. From Kursk airport it is a 20min trip to KSMU campuses by car,bus or train. The train station is located just 5 min from the KSMU campuses. 12 THE HIGHER NURSING FACULTY AT KSMU SPECIALTY: NURSING QUALIFICATION: MANAGER COURSE DURATION: 5 YEARS Entry Requirements High School Diploma with Passes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics plus an Intermediate level of English equivalent to, Foundation Programme Pass grade. The faculty of Higher Nursing opened on September 1, On completion of their taught programme, graduates take an internship course. Faculty graduates head nursing services of leading medico-preventive institutions of Kursk and its adjacent regions. They work as physicians-statisticians, teachers in medical colleges or at the department of nursing. Training is provided at 45 departments in the University. 13 USEFUL INFORMATION ACCOMMODATION Student hostel accommodation is included in the fees and students per room, depending on availability at the time of your arrival. A toilet and shower room is provided between every 2-4 rooms. The accommodation is self catering and KSMU cafeterias are also available in each academic types of private restaurants and cafes around the university. Heating, lighting and water are all provided within the KSMU accommodation as part of the fee and students should expect to spend on standard foods, phone calls and transportation approximately 200+ USD per month. We don t advise new students to move directly into private apartment though these are available commercially for later year students perhaps at an extra USD per month, plus service bills. TRANSPORT KSMU is located in the heart of the city so most of the students walk during autumn and spring, with it taking approximately 2 min, 10 min and 15 min walking to the various hostel sites. There are also 3 bus stations to the in the city, some are within walking distance and some are within a 20 minute trip by bus. INSURANCE Students can petition in writing to repeat the semester before 25th of October and 25th of March. EQUIPMENT AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING TO BE SUPPLIED BY STUDENT Students will need to provide their own clean white lab coats, surgical suits, shoes, stethoscope and tonometer. BOOKS All books are available in the KSMU library, some books are available to be borrowed for a period and some for use inside KSMU s reading halls. Students can also buy their own books. VISAS Based on the invitation that KSMU provides the applicant, the, applicant should apply to the Russian Embassy to collect their student visa.
